Good morning / evening all. We have racing from Newbury, Newmarket, Ripon, Market Rasen, Haydock, Lingfield, Curragh, and Woodbine. There should be no complaints about the racing today, since we have AW and turf, over hurdles, over jumps, and flat, Group races to class 6 . Didn't have much time to study due to a wedding this weekend , to attend to (not mine , God daughters ) My picks in the group and listed events are, Market Rasen 14.05 Knight Purple ew 12/1 Newbury 14.20 Pastoral Player 6/1 win Newmarket 14.35 Charleston Lady ew 12/1 Curragh 15.40 Six of Hearts sp win Market Rasen 15.45 Wake board 22/1 ew Newmarket 16.05 Enak 8/1 win. At Woodbine there is the Toronto Cup $ 150,000 Stakes race. Mark Casse has two runners they are Thundering Water, and Clement Rock . Jockey, Husbands is having a great season and he has chosen Thundering water over Clement Rock. and they have put Conteras on the other. Great possibility of a one two for the Casses yard. I'm looking forward to the Irish Oaks on Sunday.. should be a good race.
2.05 Market Rasen Gloucester (20/1 Each Way, Paddy Power) Following his excellent run behind Thousand Stars at last year's festival- and his second to Overturn in the Scottish Champion Hurdle- Gloucester was prepared for this same race by having pipe openers on the flat. However, running off a mark of 131, he caught an absolute tartar in Australia Day who made a mockery of his 135 mark by running away with this listed contest- proven by slaughtering Katchit in his next race off a mark of 157! In the race itself, Gloucester went clear of the pack in a vain attempt to chase down the winner- and finished a creditable second. This year, Gloucester has had the same prep. races on the flat, and goes into today's race off 127- helped by good rider O'Farrell claiming an extra 3 lbs. Having watched this horse, he needs a strong gallop and can tend to jump out to the left. However, he should run well and is worth an each way bet.
Morning, people. I quite like the racing today and will nominate the following: Heavenly Dawn (2.55 Newbury) - what a lovely name for a filly by the way. She had a promising introductory season last term and stepped up on those efforts first time this term with a very promising 2nd, to Dark Promise, at Newmarket. Sir Michael’s charge looks most progressive and it wouldn’t surprise me to see her competing at Listed level later on in the year. Can win today though first. Give Your Verdict (3.10 Newmarket) - Sir Michael and ’King’ Kieren reunite with this one who makes his belated seasonal return. Was a dual winner in 2010 with the highlight being his final run when giving weight and a beating to recent Royal Hunt Cup winner, Julienas. On that form he looks very nicely treated here and providing Give Your Verdict is ‘match fit’ he should be hard to beat. Blanc De Chine (3.30 Newbury) - I really think that this filly is massively overpriced at 33/1. Her one run to date, 10 days ago at Bath, was most promising as she gave the odds-on favourite a real race and indicated in the process that Blanc De Chine could be a speedster to note. The winner that day had previously ran creditably in Listed class so it was a most impressive debut. Off a featherweight here this one should be supported each-way. Arrivaderci (4.30 Ripon) - this filly looks standout in this heat and I would expect her to break her maiden tag today. Was beaten just a head in a hot race last time (1st and 3rd both subsequent winners) and 65 appeals as a very lenient mark. If you back Arrivaderci I don’t think you’ll be waving farewell to your money this afternoon. And after that terrible pun I’ll say good luck to all.
1.45 Coupe De Ville - NAP 3.35 Lily's Angel - EW NB 6.40 Sea Odyssey 7.10 Gabrial's Princess - EW On the Blog once more
Tks for DT Islanderpei! Well, certainly blewed-out yesterday, but have had just the one bet so far today at 10/1 (generally available): 3:15 Market Rasen - Zakatal GL this weekend one and all! (Blewed-out again, so must take a break from naps, for sure!).
Morning all . Plenty of good racing today 2.20 Newbury â RETAINER E.W 22-1 BOG â Plenty of good horses in the line up but none of the proven performers at this level come in to the race in good form. Deacon Blues is a progressive type and looks the obvious one following on from his Ascot win, however I feel he is underpriced considering he takes a big step up in class here. I am going to have a small E.W punt on RETAINER, he was a nice sort who has had injury problems meaning he has only made it to the track three times, he was won two of those starts and I just canât have his run last time out as being his true form. Hughes looks elsewhere but that doesnât bother me much to be honest as I feel this horse has plenty of ability and although he takes a step up in class himself he is open to plenty of improvement as a 3yo and comes in to this completely unexposed. I feel he is overpriced at 22-1 2.55 Newbury WATNEYA 6-1 BOG â Most people will be with the Stoute Filly Heavenly Dawn here following a good comeback effort when runner up at Newmarket. She had Watneya well behind that day but I donât feel William Haggasâs filly performed to her best that day, she had previously looked very progressive and today looks the value in the race at around 6/1. Haggas has his horses in fine form and my feelings are that Heavenly Dawn wants further than 1m. 3.30 Newbury â ELECTRIC QATAR & PYMANS THEORY â BOTH E.W 33-1 BOG â A very difficult renewal of the Super Sprint to solve but it should be a cracking race to watch. The Hannon pair Eureka and Redact have to be respected but at bigger odds I like the look of the Dascombe pair, although they are top weight and 2nd top weight (due to sales price) they both have plenty of early dash and hopefully one of them can run a place. Electric Qatar has a big reputation and although he has failed to win in two career starts so far he will know more today and will be suited by more runners in the field (badly unsuited by 3 runner tactical race last time out) Pymans Theory has already shown plenty on the track and I expect her to be right up there early on, hopefully she can last home and run a big race. 4.05 Newbury â ELUSIVE PIMPERNEL & WEALTHY E.W â 6-1 AND 25-1 BOG â I am confident that Elusive Pimpernel will run a big race here this afternoon; he showed he retained plenty of his ability when 3rd at Newmarket after almost a year off. The race was not run to suit him at Sandown on his first try over this trip and he is well worth another try here. Wealthy is an interesting horse in this race and I would be hopeful he would run a big race if returning to form, he was a progressive type for Andre Fabre but failed to fire for new connections at Meydan. They seemed to go too quick a few times with him out in front and back on turf at a big price hopefully he can prove those efforts to be all wrong. Frankie looks elsewhere but with Hannagan booked I am not put off him.
Morning Islander. Nice to see that you've included the Toronto Cup in the DT. As you know, I'm new to the Canadian scene, but I've quickly found that Luis Contreras knows his beans. He gave Inglorious a huge wrap going into the Queens' Plate. I still can't get over the fact that she started at 11-1. LC has been very positive on Clement Rock. 7-5 isn't much of a price, but if what Contreras has to say is true, she'll take some beating. I'll nap it in Ron's comp.
Man In Form says: Haydock 18.40 Roger Sez 20.10 The Caped Crusader (nap) 21.10 Planetoid Lingfield 6.25 Purple Affair (nb) 8.55 Yensi Yes, you can rely on Man In Form to provide the perfect guide for your selections: Yesterday: 7 selections seven losers (inc 4/1 on shot). Where else can you get advice like this?
Morning everyone, hope all are well. A couple of wee fancies today at Newbury. In the 2.20 Markab makes plenty of appeal at 5/1 and I will be taking a slice of that. 6F on G/F looks optimum for him these days and after a couple of sighters at G2 level he looks very dangerous dropping down to G3 company. In the big sprint race at 3.30 I will be having an E/W dabble on Alejandro (NAP) who ticks most of the trend boxes and is generally available at a juicy 25/1. In the 4.05 it would be nice to see Elusive Pimpernel come back to his best but I'm sure the French horse isn't coming over for place money and expect Shimraan to go very close. Finally in the 4.35 Eucharist looks an interesting prospect at the weights and could spring a surprise. Best of luck to everyone.
I am forgiving Pastoral Player his run at Sandown and making him my bet of the day. He should be up to winning a G3 and I fancy him to overturn the Wokingham form with Deacon Blues (with a five pound pull and the likelihood he will make a better start). The weather at Sandwich should sort the men from the boys! Watch out for Mickelson - he looks well up for it.
Just had a good look at the vids for the 200,000 pound Weatherbys Super Sprint. Have to say that I was mightily impressed by the physical nature of the Hannon trained Eureka. He has a huge chest on him. He built like a brick dunny. The 5 furlongs might be a bit too short for him, but he's some athlete. The other big Hannon chance is of course Redact. He looked to have a lot to learn last time, but he too is a special piece of horse flesh. Both of these have to step back a furlong and will have to pull out all stops to pick up the leaders, whoever they may be. Not a great race to have a punt in, but a mouthwatering prospect to watch.
