Welcome Pauldon I just came across this about Santos on Twitter. "Alefe Santos has decided not to sign a new deal with Bristol Rovers" https://twitter.com/Official_BRFC/status/483581827157082112 "We understand that Santos is in talks with Hull City" https://twitter.com/Official_BRFC/status/483581929485524992 "Any fee for Santos will have to be determined by a tribunal" https://twitter.com/Official_BRFC/status/483582017884655616
So then it looks like Hull didnt agree with Rovers valuation of Santos which isnt surprising to be honest because most Prem clubs go down this route as a tribunal often is cheaper for the Prem club. We wont get much at all for him. Good luck Santos, moving to a Prem club is a massive step and fair shout to you in securing a move to Hull. I have no idea how you managed to pull this deal off as you aint and never will be Prem material but good luck to you. Be prepared to play lots of reserve team football (if you're lucky). At best it will be a massive learning curve for you. But dont expect to play much football in the process.
I've been lurking in the background and thought I'd better put my head above the parapet! It's a good move for him but I really can't see how much he's going to play. Could just disappear or endlessly go out on loan.
He could learn a good amount with Prem standard coaches but I cant seem him improving to the level of playing Prem football or even championship. He had a choice to make, either stay with Rovers and get a lot of 1st team football under his belt or move to Hull and get paid more money but never get a 1st team game in the next 2/3 seasons. Hull wants him for their development team so I can see many loans for him. At times I see members names at the bottom of the threads but they dont get involved so its always great to see when someone does. Nice one
it's an incredible move for Santos. Really good luck to him. Are we likely to get a sell on clause, or is this ruled out by the tribunal system?
Yeah good luck to him but I would rather have a chance of first team football in the conference then go to a Prem team and sit on the bench in the reserves
He could improve, but I don't really get what Hull see in him. If he turns out to be a star of the Premier League in years to come then we'll reflect on just how wrong we all are about his potential!
I think it was going to be obvious considering at 17 signing his first contract his agent was there. Now sorry if I'm behind the times but since when did a non pro, which he was, have an agent? It was only going down one route.
He will get a chance in the Europa League this season with Hull City. Also Hull have recruited Swansea City's main man from their Academy set-up and are spending millions on a brand new base at Bishop Burton College. So Santos has joined a club with ambition, and a Premiership club who have already spent nearly £20m in the last fortnight on new players. So it has to be good move for the young lad. He will be well looked after and well coached.
Could potentially make it as a lower championship/higher league 1 player from what I've seen. Would probably have been bullied this year for you guys anyway.
i have no doubts he will be looked after by your system you have in place but im afraid i just havent seen anything in him that could make him into a decent player. good luck to him and to you in taking him but i just cant see how he could attract a team above league 2.
Hull City also signed Jarrod Bowen from Hereford today. So someone on the Hull scouting system knows something about the lower leagues.
not really correct. any prem side can get 2 youngsters from non league. doesnt mean they know something about the lower leagues. if you seen what i seen from him then im sure you will be puzzled too. im glad he has left us but im just in shock that he would find a club higher than league 2 and totally speechless that a prem side wants him. well you been warned
