    Yes.

And PSV blocked the deal at the last minute.

  3. Haven't seen him play much.

All i know is he's made around 40-50 apps for Inter, is a young international, is 20 years old and 6ft 2.

The chairman had been saying he'd block it all along anyway, must have been a complicated situation if he supposedly had a release clause, both the manager and player seemed to accept the move was happening, but all along the chairman knew it wouldn't.

Well that article didnt suggest so. Said he had trouble when put on the left as it was a position he was entirely unfamiliar with.

He had Ronaldo in his back pocket at 18, you decide <ok>

The article said he played badly when he didnt play one position consistently. He was essentially filling in on both sides and never had a consistent run. Had Ronaldo in his back pocket all day one game when he was on the left side.

Difference between the deals is that Pieters is a starter for PSV and important player, whereas Santon isnt a starter at Inter ahead of Maicon/Chivu/Zanetti.

Going off what I've heard I'd say he isnt yet, but could be even better one day.

Sound like a good player from what I've read:

Found this by some ignorant Chelski blog

Davide Santon to Newcastle?!? Please hijack this deal Chelsea...

This past winter we profiled Inter's Davide Santon, but since then we haven't really heard too much about him. The reasons seemed pretty obvious at the time...Santon was young, uber-talented, and already at a big club with an aging right back. Because of this, it seemed fairly obvious that Inter really had no reason to be selling. That all seems to be mistaken, however, as Santon is reportedly in talks with Newcastle over a potential switch to the Premier League. According to the article, Santon's agent was quoted the following:

At this time, there is no possibility that Santon can join Roma because right now the aim is Newcastle.

What?!? Newcastle? It makes sense in the aspect that he'd get plenty of playing time, but beyond that I just don't understand. If he is indeed negotiating with English clubs, I'd hope we're smart enough to be picking up the phone and bombarding his agent with calls. He's young enough to not occupy a roster spot, has the talent to challenge for a starting job right now, and will likely be a much better value than Gregory Van der Weil. He's also shown the versatility to play in several positions on the pitch, something which AVB seems to covet.

His going to Newcastle would not be the worst thing in the world, as he'd certainly be available to poach down the line if we need him (and we will certainly need RB cover soon). I can't see any reason to wait, however, as we can certainly offer a better wage package than the northerners and this would fit right in with the tremendous value signings we've been making all summer.

Here is an idea, **** off and get a better scouting system.

But, Inter are by far a better team than PSV. I'd imagine Santon would be a starter at PSV. With that Santon is also young. Where as Maicon/Chivu and Zanetti are older and experienced.

Im glad we are not signing Erik Pieters I don't rate him. Santon is a quality player with great potential and I will be delighted with this signing, hopefully we can sign Aly Cissokho and maybe Adam Johnson and Daniel Sturridge on loan.

I know, I was saying PSV stopped the deal as he is more important to them, as they arent at Inter's level.

"Santon at Newcastle? He's still an Inter player, but until the end of the market we cannot exclude anything,"

Inter Milan's CEO just said that. Looks promising. He isn't revealing anything about any transfers apparently.

Also, my understanding is that when Santon was playing consistently well he was playing at LB for around 16 games in a row. This was a few years ago, so that sounds good for us!
