On monday i saw ameobi play for the first time and from what i saw i think he can already cut it in our 1st team... in the space of about 10 mins he made a couple of really good runs which seemed to have the qpr defence in knots and i dont see why he should not start getting his chance he will certainly do more for us upfront than shola and i think the fact no one will expect anything from him (no doubt villa havnt done their hmw on him) and throw in the joker in the pack and maybe catch them off gaurd with their set...anyway aside from sammy i think the point is our team looks really void of creativity whenever sholas on the pitch... he just seems to suck the life from our free flowing football and the way i look at it our natural playing style (with all our midfielders) is an attacing trio with a foward up front and i dont see when pardew makes a point of not having good strikers why he insists on a 442 which in my eyes is a formation which is obselete in the modern game is beyond me
    anyway rant over

Completely agree with the points about him firmly being apart of our first team squad now, although I feel tomorrow is just a bit too early to give him a start. Id go 4-5-1 tomorrow and play Jonas,Tiote,Gosling,Cabaye,Marveaux with Best up top by himself. Hopefully Jonas,Gosling and Marveaux could provide the creative spark were missing at the moment. Finally, I would defintley give Sammy a start on Tuesday in the Cup and see what he can do then.

I'd definitely put Sammy in before Shola though. He looks keener and is prepared to work for the ball. Shola expects to have the ball placed at his feet all the time.

Gonna have to disagree about him being ready to start, when he came on against QPR he was playing against a tiring defence. He is however one who can make a name this season with a few cameos leading to a start.

    How about:

    ---------------Cabaye-------------Tiote
    Obertan-----------------Marveaux-------------Jonas
    --------------------------Sammy

The pace in that would be phenomenal also Jonas, Marv and Oba can constantly switch with each other to confuse the defenders even more!

A nice win against Villa, then start giving Benny sub appearences where he scores his way into the first 11, I can dream <whistle>

That'd never work. Sammy is not physical enough, experienced enough or even the right type of player to play as a lone striker. IMO he should either play alongside a target man or on the right of the striker in a 4-3-3.

Either way, I don't think he's ready for a start. He's much better as an impact sub, coming on and running at tired legs, much like Ranger. Many people were also saying Ranger should start at the end of last season, and when he did play a good chunk of a match (Villa was it?) he was ineffective. Cen see the same happening with Sammy to be honest.

Much rather give Sammy a chance than Ranger though. Ranger is a complete dickhead whereas Sammy is a legend!

  12. Sammy isn't a striker lads, he's an attacking mid type player, one that will take the ball with him from midfield, cut in and shoot or cross. His crossing looks pretty decent at times.

I don't think he's ready to start, but definitely should be used as a sub.

He's a striker or winger, so you're wrong twice.

I never understand this type of thinking. Has Sammy scored? Yes. Does he give the defenders the fright of their lives? Yes. Play the man.

He needs to improve obviously, but he definitely has the making of a top player

Yeah but you could say the same about Ranger. He terrified defenders when he came on as a sub, but when he did get a start he was anonymous.

Nothing against Sammy, just think he's not quite ready for a start yet.

I see Sammy more as an impact player coming on for maybe the last 30 minutes. He is better than his brother, no doubt about that.
