Because we won't win it, and we just risk fatigue and injuries. Every team in it is competing just so that one of the Manchester teams can end up winning it.

For me, we are getting back to how we were playing at the start of the season. We were absolutely terrible against Leicester, that was the low point but since then we have begun to turn the corner. We were good against cardiff, OK in very difficult conditions at birmingham and unlucky with a 2nd string tonight.

You need to get a grip. If we lose on Saturday I will eat these words, but I think we are getting some of our flair back and will have a point to prove.

    It wasn't a 2nd string team mate.

Highly unlikely. Definitely not worth risking our promotion over.

They signalled their intent to do this with their January deals. On the pitch all is not well right now, but throwing your hands up in the air bawling about it doesn't help either. Equally, pretending it is all going to be alright and sticking your head in the sand doesn't either. SFC is in a great place, we are 22nd in the whole country, let's try and enjoy it, and see if we can break into that top 20.

We need to rally behind the team. We HAVE over-achieved, however I do still feel form will be found again. It is do-able.

I refer you to Wolves in the season they won the title, check out the highlighted set of results:

In this period they only took 11 points from 39, and still won the title. Believe.

This is far, far, far from over.

    COYR.

Yes, they won the title. Just checked through it, they took 11 points from 39 in this period.

Like us, they had a storming start, and had a good finish.

With players coming back to form, I think we will most likely do the same. I am concerned but so would most fans be, no need to be calling for people's heads.

    Up The Saints.

No we were lucky not to lose by more goals thanks to Bart. We saw yet another poor game tonight with no determination from several players and poor forward play (when the ball eventually got up the field).

I am a little bit relieved because being a bit short of disposable income I would have struggled to afford the tickets for the Bolton game! Times are hard and my resolve may have been tested if results don't improve a little.

I also think that some poor team are in for a hiding if our best eleven click on the right day.

I am wondering, though, what if our blip isn't this bad run, but was actually our good run at the start, and now we've just stepped back to our level in this division.
My personal view is that I don't agree with the posters who target individual players and have a go at Adkins; but I do think if you can't come on this forum and whinge about your team when they've lost or chucked away a lead, then what's this forum for? It's one of the ways I work through the anxiety of it all. Since when has being a football fan been about patience, taking the long view, seeing where we stand after 42 games etc. It's about pure anxiety, knee-jerk reactions, eating your words, denying you ever doubted them/saying you said it all along.

Makes it even worse that we played well and lost. That for me is the sign of a team on shaky ground. Come on, Nigel, let's play **** and win!
But we do need a few games for the new signings to hit their stride as a team and grow in confidence. That FA Cup game was actually vital, or this could have happened on Saturday. COYR!

Haha yes actually. But that was just to illustrate my point that the vast majority of teams are competing in the cup with no hope of actually winning it, and may actually damage their chances in their division because of it. Yes, it would be fantastic if we won the FA cup, but it's far too unlikely to get excited about, and it's far more likely to create unnecessary problems. We need to get promoted - that's the only thing we should be concerned with.

We could reach a Semi Final max. i.e. utterly pointless. As sad as it is, The FA Cup is now predominantly for (a) The big 6. (b) Lower mid table Prem teams who can use reaching the final as a pathway to Europa League football. (c) League 2 and below clubs who receive relatively extortionate cash bonuses with each round they get to, on top of the hundreds of thousands they can earn from a televised tie against a Prem club or rival. For clubs battling relegation in the Prem or seeking Promotion from the Championship it really isn't a priority. There's simply too many games for us, and a relentless Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday schedule is not a position you want to be in the second half of the season. Of course I would have liked to go through (especially as my housemate is a Bolton fan) but I can't remember being more apathetic about a loss in a competitive fixture as I am tonight. Roll on Saturday.

PLUS if we were to reach the final and NOT get promoted we'd have to go through a mediocre, tedious Europa League campaign which could really **** up our season (see Birmingham)

Of course we wanted to win. It's football, it happens.

Stop flagging off the team and claiming it is unacceptable. A true supporter sticks by his team no matter what!
