i just dont buy into all the fake sympathy, like i said before even if he had made the plane he would have had maybe 1 substitute appearance, so what.... he may be better than welbeck but at world cup level he's ****, if a quality player like sturridge got injured that would be something worthy of some fake sympathy....
OK, Swampy - that's fair enough. On a personal level, I don't like to see any player getting injured, particularly one with career threatening overtones - I'm also not really interested in the World Cup implications either. Maybe it's just a case of some Cardiff fans (no idea who) going across there with some genuine sympathy for an injured footballer. On the other hand, it could all be fake as you imply - it's a football forum with allsorts posting after all.
So what do you guys think of applauding a opposition player when he's stretchered off? Fake sympathy? I usually feel quite sorry
My sympathy isn't fake. I didn't cry myself to sleep but I do genuinely feel sorry for a lad that seems an honest player and has worked his way quickly from the championship to top PL level. He was pretty much certain to be on the plane. It's not that I'll miss him at the WC (like hearing Messi or Ronaldo were out for example), its just really unfortunate for him. The one thing I will say is he's stepped up to each level in his career and it wont be a surprise to me if he makes the step to quality international level player. I'm not the kind of person that only thinks people are worthy of concern if they are perceived by me to be 'good' enough to warrant my supposedly fake attention.
I agree with Steve's views and hope he makes a full and successful recovery. Pity we weren't able to sign him when we tried about 3 years ago. Could have been a gem for us.
Probably would have saved us from the Cornelius debacle too. He was obviously right to go straight to the PL with Saints though.
