I wonder if he will make the bench a bit more as a result of this. It wouldn’t surprise me if the chance of him leaving restricted his chances. Surely it would be worth seeing him on the bench instead of Walcott ? Is he one of the closest to getting an opportunity? I was just looking at oddschecker as I like watching out relegation odds drift further and further - but he is in at 4th favourite to score first in the Everton game. Behind Broja, Adams and DCL. Which is odd to me as I don’t expect he will start. But perhaps someone knows something about how close he is ?
I just saw the quote from last night’s interview where Semmens mentions the Man City academy. I wonder if we will be getting any from there. I know there were two early links but one has now signed a contract extension and the other had a long contract. And both came on as subs the other day Albeit only given about 15 minutes against Norwich. That should have been a game where one could have started for them I expect Man City academy is trickier because the lads are based much further away. Broja really didn’t live far from Southampton and neither do the other Chelsea lads. Arsenal is a little more of a stretch but presumably another option I’d like to see us use both our loans next season if we can. Broja or not. I’d expect one to be Broja (if that is even on the cards) or Anjorin. Another could perhaps be McAtee or Delap.
Listed as a left winger. Maybe the path ahead is opening up, in the summer. Djenepo hasn’t hit the heights and iirc there has been some reported interest in Elyounoussi, not so long ago. Would prefer to keep Lucy out of the two, but he only has one year left in the summer.
He is of course correct but would be nice to hear him also say that we are financially sound so we will demand top dollar for these top talents. Also would be nice to not sell them as soon as a bug club comes in, maybe get an extra year.
And why use f**king Liverpool as an example! The way they have treated Saints, how underhanded they have been, really rubs me up the wrong way!
It could have been a coded message to Liverpool: If you try any more dodgy tapping up attempts, we'll charge you astronomical amounts, knowing that you're desperate for our talent.
