He suggested last season but that might have been trying to cover from making it too obvious as he initially said this season. Potter makes sense but seems too far back. Lage or Viera maybe
I guarantee if you all listen to this you will be so proud of our football club. The way every club at our level should be run.
Once you're at a midtable PL club though you're not leaving for another one. Unless it's a historically bigger one with money to spend such as Everton that doesn't tend to happen. Can see Vieira's next job being a certain place as well tbf. I already think he's as good as Arteta or at least has a higher ceiling.
It makes sense to plan life after Ralph but if thry are still expecting gim to see out the next 2.5 years then it is really weird to be talking about it so often. First Ralph and now Semmens, seems dodgy to me
Vieira’s next job will be either Arsenal or Man City Gerrard’s obviously Liverpool. Unless they end up underperforming to the extent where those clubs don’t want them. Which might push them off our list
Maybe, but Palace to Saints isn't beyond the realms of possibility. Especially with the takeover and the training facilities, academy etc. Going from Villa to Saints just isn't going to happen however. Particularly as Gerrard is very ambitious.
Maybe it is a response to any talk linking him elsewhere. As in “he is definitely staying until…” Semmens is likely only talking about it because of the piece from Ralph last week
It didn’t sound overly positive on getting Broja permanently. Unless it was more a comment on how there is a number we will go to before looking elsewhere it would be nice if we could get a second loan if a permanent isn’t possible. Not least on the budget that can be applied elsewhere I’d trust them with identifying a replacement although it is always going to be tougher with strikers
I don't think so. The fact that Ralph is having an input is very encouraging IMO. 2 and a half years may sound a long time, but before we know it it will be 12 months left and then 6. Semmens will want his successor line up before Ralph leaves.
Yeah I completely agree that it is a good thing to be preparing now, especially because there is no gaurantee Ralph will see out the entirety of his contract. I just think it is a strange thing to be discussing so openly when they supposedly don't expect it to happen for 2.5 years. I don't see how talking about it does anyone any favours - just likely to lead to rumours and uncertainty.
I don't see how, Ralph has said he's going to honour his contract and Semmens isn't going to sack him so I can't see the uncertainty.
