That was a cracking goal. As was the entire game. That was Saints probably at their very best so far in this Liebherr era. You know what, I think I may cheer myself up by watching my copy of that game.
Plus a classic 7 minute wail and whine from Mourinho after the game, followed by his sacking, which made the whole thing just that bit more satisfying...
the bbc has us looking at Stevan Jovetic for a deal in january. not a typical saints signing age wise, but just the type player we need
http://www.football365.com/news/saints-lack-of-pace-leaves-them-mired-in-midtableland An opinion piece on where we are, some of which I agree with but some I don't.
I wanted us to look at him a couple of years back. I have no idea what his current level is at, but back then I think he’d have fit well.
On general now... I'm looking at it, but work at 7 on the Thursday morning so staying over is out of the equation. Need to swap my shift on the day of the game too. Don't fancy a drive on my own either... might be too much to do I reckon
Luckily for me, two of my team live in Manchester, (one a ST holder at Citeh) so they will be getting a visit that day and the day after. I’m back late tomorrow so need to check with mate who was going to get me one on his ticket, then I’ll be booking
Watched that Chelsea 3-1 away game last night in its entirety. In one match it is an illustration of what we've lost. Sadio scared them with his speed and power and Graziano totally dominated both Cahill and Terry, and often occupied 2 or 3 players. And the team pressed like we don't seem to do now. They were on the front foot all the time. There was plenty of sideways passing when required, but there was an urgency to get the ball forward, and did we have outlets for it. Funnily enough, we probably have a stronger squad overall, but our first eleven is undoubtedly weaker.
We have always been greater than the sum of our parts as a team but sadly these days we are far less.
bit harsh on yoshi. the idea of a southampton way is the problem we have. other teams know we are going to rock up and play the same formation, if the system worked and if we had the players for that system fair enough, but as the article said, mane made our system work and we have not replaced him. we should not be blaming the manager if he is told to play a certain style of football that does not work
Yep agreed. Unfortunately, Yoshi has always had a clanger or two in his locker. One he got away with on Sat, the other he didn't. Love the guy but in my view we've got to play VD & Wesley (if fit) & then until we decide to cash in on VD.
