No, get rid next summer. Drop him to train on his own for the season - the u23s don't deserve that! The bloke's a complete cock, I don't want him representing our club.
First message since the saga and it's a complete surrender with a small cry for help as the cherry on top. Love it. Well played Les.
That's knowing how to score. The two who we lost bossed Chelsea. And back then Dusan had someone to make aerial crosses for and Davis was grateful for such a fantastic knock down.
Then VVD likes this tweet from saints ________________________________ It feels like we are being played, by someone who's not that bright. So why is it annoying me so?
No idea, I've got an evil grin plastered across my face. Feel like a villain who's plot just succeeded and the hero is on his knee talking about how evil will never win despite already winning.
Having a player that so openly wants to leave the club really doesn't sit well with me. The sooner we get rid of him, the better.
Begins.......didn't end that summer of love, did it! Back for one full 90 minutes, gives away a pen, pisses off to Holland and starts talking whack.
Back to training and playing with the under 23's - no point in playing someone who is still talking of getting out again. Such an ungrateful sod - when he first stated he wanted to go to Scumpool I wrote we should offload him rather than not get anything for him by benching him: but now I seriously want to **** him over and bench him for the length of his contract. Sorry for venting this way; but I have had enough of the p***k. Edit: Heavens I feel so much better for getting that off my chest!
I had been in Tanzania for two weeks, had climbed Kilimanjaro (nearly died) and was in a small campsite about an hours drive from the gate to the Ngorongoro crater ahead of a weeks long safari around the Serengeti. I'd just had dinner around a campfire and wandered over to the bar when I noticed they had a small tv on in the corner with football playing. I walked closer having no idea or expectation that it would be a PL game, and I see Chelsea 1-2 Southampton on the screen. I had no idea Saints were playing, its not something I try and keep up with when I'm on a holiday like that! Needless to say I was jumping around when Pelle scored the third. Great, unexpected moment. All the locals thought me barmy, don't think they came across too many Southampton supporters
Not sure why people are surprised/angry by VVDs comments? He has basically said that he wants to go (we knew this), he can't move now because there is no window open so will give his all for the team (like most of us predicted) and that he still wants to go when the next window opens (pretty obvious he would if teams are still interested in him, which will only happen if he is playing well for us). I wanted to sell him in the summer and re-invest, my opinion hasn't changed, get a solid 3 months out of him now, he will perform to his best as he needs to to keep other teams interested, then sell him in Jan with potentially an even bigger fee than we could've got in the summer. I don't see the benefit in benching him for 3 months, he has to perform well in that period for his own interests and career, which in turn benefits us. It is January where prices are usually higher, and imagine if Liverpool are fighting it out for top 4 and their defence is the reason they could fail, they might throw more money at Saints.
I'm glad we stood firm and blocked his mover in the summer, but the games have to stop now. Sell him and reinvest in a striker and attacking midfielder, otherwise it's going to be a long second half of the season. We proved our point we won't be forced into selling this year and well done the board on that one, but if we do it again in January we will only be screwing our selves. 70 million is worth a lot more to us than pride and principles. And I for one have had enough of VvD being a prize prick with his name attached to our club, it's time to f*ck him off now...
I don't want to see him in the first team squad again, not even on the bench or the first team training squad £75m & F*** off! The Lovren reception will have nothing on what you are going to get
Exactly. The fact he's said he will give 100% is realistically the best scenario we could have gotten out of this. We have had an extra few months of Virgil and possibly higher price at the end of it. I don't get the meltdown? Keep him in the first team if he's playing well enough and show other players that all you're going to get for throwing your toys out the pram is the fans hating you. Sell him on our terms only, same as before.
I think if we feel (and Les will know) he is going in Jan, then drop him and play Hoedt and Yoshi. If we have no intention of selling, let him play (he is after all our best player) and use him until the summer.
We've got Van Dijk, Virgil Van Dijk I just don't think he understands. He's acting like a prick, Obviously can't count to six, We've got Virgil Van Dijk.
http://sportwitness.co.uk/ex-southampton-goalkeeper-reveals-st-marys-spell-put-career-back-track/ Interesting article about our spare GK last season...Hassan. Forgot all about him myself. Said he never played for us, but he learned what hard work was at Southampton and it has stood him in good stead. Speaks highly of Puel laying into him and demanding that he worked harder.
