We did the double of Reading that Season though, so we're really 2nd... <laugh>

Thankfully, we're in a much better position to hold onto them nowadays.

Saints best player by a mile is Guly Do Prado. He strikes fear in to my heart, if he plays we've had it.

Southampton have always had a first class youth academy. He's going to be a massive England prospect young Mr. Shaw.

Lallana should be in the England squad imo, and Shaw isn't far off.

Sadly the man being touted now is that Berahino of WBA, which is just ludicrous considering he has been nowhere near as good as a lot of players at the 'unfashionable' clubs.

I've got a mate who's a Baggies fan and he's told me this Berahino kid is amazing. He said he looks as though he's been playing Premier League football for years. It's risky to accurately comment on him though considering it's still his first Season. Look at Michu, he hasn't looked a shadow of himself from last Season with today's Welsh derby being a prime example.

Lallana was quality in the Championship, and considering he's been in the first 11 ever since they've got Promoted to the Premier League considering what Southampton have spent, says a lot about how good he is. We need a friendly against someone like San Marino or Tahiti where we call up all the potential prospects such as Lallana, Berahino, Davies, Huddlestone, Shaw, Butland etc.

I'm not saying this lad shouldn't be called up, from what I have seen he looks good, but there have been a lot more players who deserve it more imo. Is it a coincidence that he happens to be eligible for other nations? I have a bad feeling that is why he is getting called up...

Lallana, Davies, possibly Thudd and possibly Shaw should be in the England squad for the games in two weeks time. All of Man Utd's players bar Rooney and Carrick should be dropped imo.

That would be media mayhem. It'll never happen.

They'd start blaming England's faults on David Moyes saying Manchester United's change in fortunes has affected the national side <laugh>

Based on current form my England squad would be:

    3 GKs, 7 DFs, 9 MIDs, 4 STs

Forster (Celtic), Hart (Man City), Ruddy (Norwich)
    -------------------------------------------------
Baines (Everton), Cahill (Chelsea), Jagielka (Everton), Davies ('ull), Shaw (Soton), Dawson (Spurs), G.Johnson (Liverpool)
    -------------------------------------------------
Gerrard (Liverpool), Wilshere (Arsenal), Lallana (Soton), Barkley (Everton), Townsend (Spurs), Carrick (Man Utd), Huddlestone ('ull), Britton (Swansea), Milner (Man City)
    -------------------------------------------------
Defoe (Spurs), Sturridge (Liverpool), Rooney (Man Utd), Lambert (Soton)

Ruddy's current form is awful, look at how many he's conceded in the last 4/5 games. I've never rated Ruddy. Ben Foster's better.

AND there's no RB's in your defence. You have chosen 3 LB's and 4 CB's, unless you were planning on playing an LB out on the right.

I thought Ben Foster was injured (Myhill has been playing a lot), otherwise he'd be in there ahead of Ruddy.

****, I didn't even notice the Rb dilemma.... okay, replace Gibbs with Glen Johnson. I thought I had put Glen in already....

Very low scoring game. Arguably the two best organised defenses in the Prem. One goal for either side could win it. Could swing on a freak error or ref decision. I'd take a 0-0 draw.

Just need a quick striker to play off the high defensive line that Saints have been playing, a 5 man midfield to dampen their pressing game and some sumptuous through balls from Huddlestone for fast attacker to run onto - Easy!
