FT: southampton 3, west brom 2. You guys watching Watford missed a cracking game. Sims and Hesketh excellent, Slattery played some good balls from deep too second half. McQueen really good but was involved in giving away the stupid penalty. Johnsons put is some really good crosses and popped up at good moments. funny to say after scoring 3 goals but we could have been more clinical. should have scored more really.
That Referee made enough errors to lose us the game, so many fouls on Hesketh, Sims and Johnson went unpunished. I reckon that shot went in under the crossbar but it seemed to be a weird bounce?
According to TalkSport we are second behind Moan Utd with the most academy graduates (16) playing in the Premier League. Moan Utd have 29 BTW!!!! I'm struggling to total 16 myself but obviously includes JWP, Walcott, Ox, Surman, Chambers, Dyer, Lallana, Shaw, Could (at a stretch) also include Stephens, McQueen, Targett, Scheiderlin. Who else would make up the 16?
Le Tissier, Bale (didn’t play for us in the PL but did for Spuds), Danny Wallace, Rodney Wallace (with Leeds). Struggling now! Edit: Just realised this is about current players!
Vokes was born in Southampton but was a product of Bournemouth Academy. Forgot about Sims (presumably add Hesketh too in that case)
Yeah - definitely makes it more difficult. Some would argue neither Stephens nor Schneiderlin were products of our academy
As far as I'm concerned a player can be a product of multiple academies. It' not like you would say youre only a graduate of one school. Don't see why football is different
