Ramirez's agent did do all he could to get the transfer through, eventually. And he only did it because they had no other options. Wanyama's agents currently have no other options either, we're the only club who has had a bid accepted. Unless that changes, they will end up desperate to push this deal through as well.

I'm not saying he will definitely sign for us, I don't know, but all of this agent talk is part of the negotiating game, and should not be taken at face value.

 

The agent said that Celtic turned down a chance for Wamyana to move to QPR last season...for all the talk of big clubs, none seem to be in for him.

 

Maybe, but I don't remember Ramirez's agent coming out and publicly saying there was little prospect of an agreement because our offer was far too low. Either way the club need to look at other options.

 

Wasn't it reported that we hadn't bid for Nainggollan, but that he was using our name (and a few others, who may or may not have shown interest) to try to get some bidding started? I personally have no time for anyone who are too short-sighted to see what this project is - too many underwhelming players reporting that a top four club are after them. Waste of time - they're better off going to a club in the Premiership where they can shine, working hard and trying to improve, and then get what they're after the right way (not the short cut).

 

I can't believe we've got 35 pages to this thread now and we're still nowhere near knowing what the hell is going on with this deal!

 

I say let's move on - as has been said before, we need players who believe in the project and use us to grow and develop as players, and for the team. Rather than feeling a bit too good for us (which their agents and advisors will help propagate), and angling for a move every window. As much as I rate him, stalling, hedge-betting players annoy me, and while I would be pleased if it went through, I'm in a good place - where I genuinely don't mind what happens with this now, and am hopeful that this smokescreen is helping Nicola get some peace and quiet in his other plans.

All the comments on the BBC story (one guy who obviously was in hibernation last season suggested Victor won't want to join us and fight relegation and lose to the big teams like Man City, Chelsea etc.! - staggering how litle attention football fans pay to football, and how short their memories are), and this stalling by the player, just make me anxious to get some players in, start the pre-season, and hit the ground running to show these idiots how clueless they are; as well as hope that we finish above whoever Victor signs for, with Cork and Schneiderlin bossing the mid...

 

Think we all know really. If Cardiff will pay Wanyama and his agent what they want, they will put pressure on Celtic to take a lower offer.

 

Let's be honest if we really wanted Wanyama that badly, he would of been signed by now. Sometimes its better to pay a little bit more for something, than miss out all together. I for one will be a tad annoyed if he ends up at Cardiff.

 

I'm hoping this approach is taken.

 

Good thing Cortese isn't so short sighted and impatient. Just look at Schad's post a few posts up to see why going "**** it, we'll pay extortionate agent fees" is a horrible idea.

 

They are welcome to him, as the Agent and his baggage comes with it, only a matter of time before the player will be urged to move on for another big pay day.
