    Any ideas?

Wes Brown is on stand-by to take John O'Shea's place against Liverpool, with the Sunderland skipper a major injury doubt.
O'Shea picked up a calf problem in Saturday's defeat at Manchester City and Sam Allardyce is wary of risking the skipper in Wednesday's visit of Liverpool.

With fellow centre-half Younes Kaboul sidelined for up to two months, it leaves Allardyce with just veteran Brown and Under-21 prospect Tom Beadling as cover to start alongside ex-Liverpool man Sebastian Coates in the heart of Sunderland's back four.

    ...............................................................................................

Sam Allardyce believes Jack Rodwell’s strongest position is central midfield and will continue to resist the temptation to experiment with the £10million man at centre-half.

This is an occasion that we MUST play the youngster.
The others have proved there absaloutly useless
The kids surely can't be any worse.

I think I would rather see Rodwell in at centre half than Brown..

Why not put Beadling and Rodwell in with Coates, this formation with wing backs is our only hope with this squad, I have said more than once that Rodwell should have been playing alongside Beadling in our U21 set up, in preparation for this situation, as he is so poor in midfield it would be only commmon sense to give it a try, what is there to lose, think outside the box Sam or we will soon be in one.

"Sam Allardyce believes Jack Rodwell’s strongest position is central midfield and will continue to resist the temptation to experiment with the £10million man at centre-half."

translation: He`s even worse at CH than he is at CM. <doh>

This is exactly the situation Brown was kept on for so I can see him being brought in. I`d like to see what Beadling can do but it looks like Sam`s thinking he`s not ready yet.

Where`s Matthews? He`s disappeared off the radar completely. Is he still injured?

    -----------Pantilimon------------
    Yedlin---Coates---Brown-----Jones
    -----Rodwell-Mvila-Cattermole----
    Watmore-----Defoe-----------Borini

Need 3 dm's to protect that back 4. Get the ball wide and try and hit them on the counter.

Lens - shop window, point to prove etc etc. Just a thought.
Watmore - 60mins impact sub seems to work better atm.

Defoe & Borini must start imo. Fletcher can be on the bench and Graham can go and clean the netties.

January dealings so important. Got to get it right this time.

I'll be in the Railway Club from around half two if anyone is in the area and fancies a pint or three.

Rodwell does nowt, so get Lens back in, with Jonno, Mvilla, Watmore in midfield, Borini and Defoe up front.

Love to mate but this is one match I just can't make.

I hope everyone there has a great time and we pick up 3 invaluable points.

We al really know Brown will start so we'll have to just accept it.
