Surprised you say that about Borini, he looked like almost the only player on our side who was working his arse off trying to make something happen. His finishing was bad yeah but he was trying and he fizzed one effort narrowly over. Our most dangerous player on the day by some distance. Not that that's saying much. M'Vila was quiet but my point was more that Catts was having a mare and for some reason was spent after sixty mins so he should have been the first player to take off. He could barely kick it let alone run.
He gives everything every game, doesn't mean he had a good game though. I like him, and I genuinely think he likes it here. He just never seems to do the simple stuff with ease!! Catts is being played in a position that he shouldn't even be in. It's obvious he's too far up the pitch.
Aye he's not comfortable there and it shows. Nothing came off for him. I thought Borini had more about him today than just graft, all our attacks (all three of them) came through him pretty much and he did a lovely bit of skill to create an attack only to be let down by a poor pass from Defoe.
"Hoof out of defense" ???? Bit harsh.... Was a wonderful pass by Drinkwater. Not a bad finish too. Hear what you're saying though. Very even first half. We came into it more second half and I'm still not sure how Rodwell put his chance over..... Still think you will stay up and get a result at Norwich. Newcastle are a far worse side than you. Good luck chaps
1 win in 11. 1 clean sheet since ww2 finished. replacing M,Vila and Khazri with 2 pantomine horses. All add up to the inevitable.
We got beaten by the best team in the country... No shame in that. Norwich game is beyond important now.
Your pure dislike of Catts is obvious and you obviously need someone to pick on . . . . lots of 'fans' seem to need the same thing, which I'll never understand because this sort of negativity spreads much more easily than positivity Anyway, until Catts made his first mistake, mid-way through the second half, he was our MOTM, then he, understandably, tired because of the amount of work that he was doing He still did his bit, playing like the captain that he is . . . . well done Catts
Eh? I don't dislike Catts at all. He did have a bad game though. What a load of crap. "Pure dislike", "picking on", "negativity". I simply stated my opinion, which I still believe to be correct, that one of our players had a poor game.
He was terrible mate, the amount of times he just hoofed it was comical... what he does, is work hard and look busy. Kante does for Leicester what many Sunderland fans think Cattermole does for you lot, only he actually does the job well. He should have the Yakety Sax theme tune playing at all times when he's on the pitch, it's like watching a dog chasing a ball in a park, he was lucky to stay on the pitch as well after crunching Drinkwater studs first into his ankle early doors.
Exactly, I'm usually a fan of Catts but all he did yesterday was run about and lump the ball down the pitch in a panic. Not what we needed.
I've never fallen for his work rate passing off as ability mate, people take offence with me all the time for my analysis of Cattermole on here. He looks like he has just fallen directly out of the Wimbledon squad from the 90's under Joe Kinnear, he'd have probably done a great job in that era.
I thought Catts was the weak link in our midfield yesterday. I would never berate him during a game simply because he always gives his all. However, his distribution yesterday was woeful at times and he never even looks like scoring a goal..
Kirchhoff has made the guy absolutely redundant. Your 3 CM's yesterday had one job, which was to stop Kante and they never, the guy ran the show. Kirchhoff won a few battles with him, and Kirchhoff's a very effective player. If he had a ball player next to him, you'd have a very, very good CM, as it is you don't have that option so you're not moving the ball fluidly around midfield, it usually finds it's way to Cattermole who'll do something completely useless with it.
That's it then, I can leave now, my mission is complete... I will self destruct in 5, 4, 3, 2... Nah, The Relic would miss me too much. How's Smug doing then, all good?
Had a few beers beers with him and one of his sons yesterday and they are champion. Gordon Armstrong also turned up and I also met SAFC83 for the first time yesterday..It all made for a cracking day that was only spoiled by the result..
Interesting debate on your midfield ... from a neutral perspective (even though we were your opposition) .. I thought Kirchoff was very impressive and the other lad who went off Kazri? looked good too ... Not sure what Sam thought Cattermole would give you against our midfield tbf ... Drinkwater and Kante are very quick .... Cattermole could (perhaps should) easily have got booked for the early challenge on Drinkwater (Drinky might have got booked too becasue he reciprocated) ... for me that was very irresponsible from Cattermole ... if he had got a booking that early on (and it was a reckless bookable challenge) it would have left him on a knife edge, thereby either rendering his main strength ineffective or alternatively staring down the face of a red ... something your club absolutely didn't need ... Borini caused us problems ... if he could finish he'd be some player ,,, Your full-backs are good going forward but not the best defenders ... indeed Yedlin could have been pulled up for a pen on Okazaki, which would have been disastrous at that stage of the game .. If I was Sam, and Lens is fit, I'd be tempted to bring him into the midfield with Kirchoff and Kazri against Norwich .... Defoe always has a goal in him and I suspect he will trouble what is bound to be a nervous Norwich defence more than he did against Huth and Morgan ... Good luck ... thought your fans were excellent and showed real class (many of them) in staying behind to applaud our lads ...
largely agree, apart from the penalty claim which should have resulted in a booking for your player. By many accounts I have heard, we had a far better claim for a penalty for a handball, but I was at the other side of the ground and did not get the best of views..
watched it on TV and the hand ball was more of a penalty that the Okazaki incident. Think the ref was blocked out of it though. suppose on different days they could both have been given but Okazaki made a meal of it when he knew he wouldn't get the ball. i hope Seb gets a run out at Norwich as he has to be a step up from Catts and poor man Jack.
