no not another post about how **** we played, cos we all know that, but what about fulham, a pretty decent team, assembled on a budget, kind of got me to thinking about the summer and transfer targets, and fulham have a few possible. 1. clint dempsey, didn't play yesteday, thank god, but is top class. 2. chris baird, a decent and reliable defender. 3. bobby zamora, played well and will get better, a decent striker. 4. eidur gud... think he's only on loan there, would be a good addition to a squad. but a big difference i saw was comparing mig to schwarzer, anyone notice when he gathered a ball, how fast he distributed out and created another attack, something mig needs to work on.
Think it boils down to man mangement skills. Think a few teams around us have similar players however other managers, Owen Coyle, Roy Hodgson etc seem to get a lot more out of them. I was screaming to get rid of bruce yesterday but dont honestly know.
To be fair to Mig his options for quick releases are severely limited at the mo. His two 'wingbacks' (I use the term loosely!), Bardo & Elmo, hardly the most most attacking, creative going. Bardo, who can't beat a man, is on the wrong side of the pitch so has to turn back inside onto his 'proper' foot and then 90% of the time will launch one of his hopeful long diagonal balls up field, Elmo on the other side, can beat a man, well knock it past him and run faster anyway, is liable to lose possession and leave a gaping hole at the back. Both options often put us back under pressure more often that not. Catts is often another option, sitting just outside our box, often surrounded by opposition midfielders ready to hustle him either into a hasty back pass or trying to dribble (if that's the right word) his way out of trouble on the edge of our box (seen this regularly in past few matches) ... I thought Catts had a decent game yesterday by the way, anyone else? Only other option for Mig is the long punt over the top to our smallest player on the pitch in Sess, who although he gave 110% yesterday was always on a hiding to nothing when he was constantly surrounded by at least 2, often 3 defenders. We need a bit of steel and height in that team, a tall forward of sorts, I'd say a bit more muscle in the middle, and as for the defence?! ... ****ing hell
