No shots on target makes not many goals And that was the result last night, When that happens it doesn´t need many holes If the other team can get it right That they did once and it proved just enough To end our Cup chances again, As the game panned out it wasn´t that rough On us, save one possible pen But not to make their keeper have to work Is disappointing, I would say, Lafferty´s good chance, he managed to shirk And that was our best on the day Is it just me or does Lafferty too Pick up a few too many cards, Not the most helpful thing that he can do If we hope to reap some rewards But good to see Hooper and Howson back Although they weren´t yet up to speed, Once they pick up the little that they lack All signs of rust will soon recede But not a great night in the scheme of things Shrews deserved their next round place, And hopefully that won´t have clipped our wings In the ongoing promotion race. it was a different team that played for us so hopefully it will not effect the momentum in the CCC good to see Howson and Hooper back that gives us some serious competition in the squad Well done Shrews think we have settled the debt we owed them for selling us Holty so cheaply
Morning number 2, agreed it´s ´only´ the Cup, but I dare say Adams and Co are disappointed not only at going out, but at the way we went out too, bit whimperish, but Shrews worked very hard and made it difficult, good luck to ´em.
Listening to Adams´s appraisal, he wouldn´t totally agree with you, Rich, he wants to win every game - not a bad outlook to have, if you ask me. http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/29338583
...also happen to think that a good Cup run this year would have been beneficial in every way to our league campaign, something which it wouldn´t necessarily have been when we were up in the Prem - but we won´t know now.
Good cup runs do seem to give teams' league form a boost but you also tend to see the opposite effect following defeat at a late stage of the cup. Can all go a bit tits up in the league then too.
