    Evening, lads,

So we've got your young midfielder on loan until January...any good??

I have to say that I know nothing about him, but hopefully Mick McCarthy has spotted something in the lad that will add to our team, and give your boy some game time too, hopefully he'll do well for us.

Anyway, good luck for next season, especially against the Norfolk scum. ;)

He is claimed as being like Scholes, unfortunately i think it is for his tackling!

He's quite solid, get's in other players faces, he is a tough tackler but more accurante than Scholes at that. I don't think he'll make it at United but he's a good player who should be able to make it somewhere in the Prem eventually.

As I said, I've never seen the lad play, but I would have thought that at 20 years of age, to be likened to Paul Scholes must show that he has something about him.

The key word as with most 20 year old players is potential. A couple of years ago he was almost a dead cert to make it at United but over the last couple of years his progression has slowed down a bit. He's still good at reserve level but there are more players better than him at his level now than there were. Perhaps a loan move will get that progression going again and he might still have a chance at United but I think his future lies elsewhere. He's a good player, probably will play in the top flight, but I think he'll fall short of what is required to play at the top.

From what I've seen of him, just glimpses, he isn't a natural footballer. Passing isn't his strength, and he isn't good on ball either. I think Dave A is spot on, at best he could be Khedira, nothing more.

Dunno why anyone likens him to Scholes, he's more akin to Fletcher, or possibly a less talented Keane. Lots of energy, gets up and down the pitch well enough, but nowhere near the same level of natural talent and technique as Scholes and currently lacking the leadership of Keane.

Like Dave says, he was doing great a couple of years back, but has struggled a bit to make the step up. I think the best we could hope for would be for him to reach the same level as Fletcher if he develops his technique and tackling, and keeps working hard on the pitch. Which, imo, would be no bad thing - Fletch was playing a vital role for us before he got ill and we've missed him badly over the last two or three seasons.
