Earlier post mentiond "Leader" - something we havne't got that many in. Shaun Derry & Clint Hill are two, Ryan Nelsn will make three and these players have bags of experience. Not sure about SD's legs mind however reckon all three add and contribute more to the side than "our in barton's own words England international". If AJ gets a deal then I wold be happy, and give Green a litttle longer. Let's not forget hat our younger players can also lean a lot from guys like Nelson about how to look after themselves.
Great Signing if this comes off maybe not for the fantasy lads on here but in real life this player is outstanding
20120616. Nelsen confirms QPR move Defender looking forward to working with Hughes again By Edwin Chong. Last Updated: June 16, 2012 9:04am ...... Ryan Nelsen: Veteran defender has confirmed he will be joining Queens Park Rangers ....Veteran centre-back Ryan Nelsen has confirmed he has agreed a deal to join Queens Park Rangers on a one-year contract after passing a medical. Sky Sports revealed earlier this week that the 34-year-old was set to move to Loftus Road after spending the second half of last season with Tottenham Hotspur. Nelsen made eight appearances after arriving at White Hart Lane on a short-term deal from Blackburn Rovers and his move to QPR will throw up a reunion with Mark Hughes. The New Zealand international was signed for Blackburn by Hughes from DC United midway through the 2004/05 season and he made over 200 appearances during his time at Ewood Park. He admits the chance to play under Hughes again was too good to pass up and he is hoping he can make a contribution for QPR next season. Big factor "I owe him pretty much everything. He gave me my chance (at Blackburn in 2005),'' Nelsen told Fairfax. "That was a big factor. I know Mark and his staff really well, and they all really helped me when I was first over here in England, so it's nice to go full circle towards the end of my career. Hopefully, I can still help them out.'' Although QPR narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League last term, Nelsen believes he has made the right choice and is excited about the club's potential. He added: "They've got a lot of ambition - it seems like it's going to be a good fit."
This is a great improvment on Perone & Gabbidon. Well done Sparky & hopefully we will get more QPR fans from New Zealand too
Can't complain one bit. More experience around a team that was improving defensively is a very shrewd tactic.
Pleased with this. Brings a vast amount of PL experience to the side and is a quality defender. If Spurs wanted him he must still have something.
I like this approach, get a few experienced squad men in, especially ones you know well, save the cash for 2 or 3 signings of talent we have never heard of - Samba, Dembele, De Jong all came from nowhere when bought by Hughes. Make sure Diakite is one of these three. I'm resigning myself to not getting Taiwo, which is a real shame, because he's got SOUL. Reckon we could see some action early in the window this time too.
