Its a testing time for us fans
And an important one for the club.

The right moves during the next 3 weeks could define our next couple of years, or even more

Well we do only have 17 players
And we sold a bona fida match winner (for peanuts)
You must admit, its not the ideal preparation for a season in the "fifth hardest league in the world"

We know Lansdown is City until he drops, and Cotts is possibly the best manager we have had since AD. All of which makes this summer infuriating, because we are worried about our chances in the event of injury or loss of form or transfers to Bigknob United

It can be both. The Ryan Hendricks deal on the face of it is a good one. It was completely unknown, the reported fee is peanuts, and the player seems perfect for the club.

However, Hendricks missed an entire pre-season with us, and any player we sign bar Kodjia won't have played with the side in a non-competitive game. Since the main thing our side benefited from last season was a full preseason together, it leads us to believe that any business we do now is potentially too late. We still cannot fill a subs bench without promoting U21's. While that may not be a problem, the fact that so many fans do see it as a problem brings down morale, and the last thing we need after promotion is low morale around the club. If the fans are thinking that business has been poor, I'm willing to bet the players have been thinking it too. That is on the board.

If you spend peanuts, you get monkeys. That rings true for the academy too. The club has spent a lot more in recent years, but it takes years for an academy to bear fruit, yet the board have seemed impatient to wait for the academy to become good. We should use players from the academy, but only if they're good enough. We've just been promoted, and if they weren't good enough last season then why are they good enough this season in a much tougher league? Again, down to mismanagement from the board.

"If you spend peanuts, you get monkeys" So would you suggest Flint and Freeman are monkeys then?

Academies are about development. 20 year old kids are not always ready for league football, comments on here about Bobby Reid having a massive season in front of him this season are correct, however he can't do very much if he's not involved, if we keep bringing in loads of signings again just to appease impatient fans, thats what will stop his development.

Cotts need another tight knit group of players this year and if he has too many sat on the bench all that good feeling can be destroyed by one individual who can't see the bigger picture, we're ok for now.

Lets get started and see where it takes us!
