I`ve been in discussion with Ryan Air (if that what you can call a string of expletive ridden exchanges with a member of their "chat team") about some flights we have booked... Long story short - they won`t refund or cancel flights we have booked from Stansted to Malaga on 8th August (07.25 depart) returning 15th August (leaving Malaga at 21.55). I`m not going and my travel insurers have played fair and are happy to refund the cost of the tickets...the villa we had booked has been swapped to next year... We have 5 seats (3 adults 2 teens!) and some bag space if anyone wants them - you`ll need to 1. Pay for the names to be changed and 2. Promise to put a few quid into a charity tin (your choice) and 3. Promise to follow the rules on quarantine when you get back Anyone interested just let me know...
Just checked their ****e site and it's £115 for a name change. It's one of the main ways they make money out of people. It's virtually always cheaper just to book a new flight. I reckon they're on very dodgy legal ground given the government is advising against non-essential travel, and would lose in small claims court. However, if your insurers are OK you won't need to go down that route.
Won't fly those ****ers on principle. If I got caught up in a revolution and they were the last flight out I'd take me chances with the rebels...
The whole business is full of scams - I lost £100 on the insurance excess so just not worth the hassle of a claim. £115 a name is about as much as we paid... Come the revolution...
