I agree, I have been there a few times, they are much more interested in talking Football, and I have not experienced any anti UK feeling, they think the EPL is great to watch.
Media and what ****e politicians talk too. Have to say, overall, from the opening ceremony, to the ITV coverage, and the actual genuine charity work this world cups doing, Union could teach not just League, but a few other sports including Football and Cricket a thing or two.
Scotland Crush Japan 45-10 In Rugby World Cup "Springbok Slayers" Japan lost their spark against the Scots after an unexpected victory over South Africa on Saturday. http://news.sky.com/story/1557725/scotland-crush-japan-45-10-in-rugby-world-cup
Cheers OLM, I am trying to keep this updated, hectic home life with 2 young uns. Australia are proving a lot tougher opponent than England did against Fiji, currently it's 25-6.
So it seems the Oz's found Fiji difficult to break down too, final score was 28-13 to Australia, good effort from Fiji. Last match of the day, France v Romania. Back in 70's Romania were banging on the door to join the then 5 nations. Unfortunately after the revolution the funding dropped from the sport as did, eventually, the interest. Shame.
To be fair at 17-10, Japan missed a penalty which changed the game completely. After that, Japan tired and Scotland thrived. The fact it is Japan's second game and Scotland's first seemed to have a huge impact.
So France register their second win by beating Romanis quite convincingly 38-11. At half time score was close at 17-6. Only one game today and it's another chance to see the Haka as the mighty Kiwis take on Namibia. Got to say the Kiwis are looking good, anyone notice that they even all had black boots too!
When did lifting a player at a lineout become legal? In my day ( a long time ago ) it was a big no no.
I think it was only a big no no when you lifted a player BEFORE the ball was thrown. You can PRE-GRIP a player before the throw, but not lift.
So the Kiwis are looking pretty bloody awesome, Namibia at least got a try. 46-14 it is with 10mins to go.
Final score 58-14. Some rugby on show at a packed out Olympic Stadium. Fair play to Namibia, their defence just didn't give up. Tomorrows game is at 1645 and its Argentina v Georgia at Kingsholme Stadium, Glouscester.
I don't think the Kiwi's have shown anything special so far, they'll be disappointed with the result last night for sure. However watching them it seems like they haven't even started yet, they've won two games comfortably in 2nd gear, can't wait to see them in the big games. I just hope if England have to play them its in the final, otherwise we'll be in trouble.
Argentina proved way to strong for Georgia as they knocked up a 54-9 victory. Tomorrows games are: 1430: Italy v Canada. Bellend Road. 1645: South Africa v Samoa. At Villa Park. And the big one at 2000: England v Wales in front of a packed out Twickenham.
It used to be illegal to lift a player. The rule was altered to.allow a player to be lifted quite a long time ago.
Listened to Talk Sport on RH tonight.Lots of mentions of RL, Yorkshire cricket but not a peep, about the World Cup going on with sell outs at every game or the game tomorrow which will have the largest crowd in the UK this weekend. Not surprising really as the presenter was Gollum and the guest was FC fanatic Pete Smurthwaite.
I'm on the fence with both codes, as a kid played RL, but I joined the forces in the late1980's and RU was the only game played then, so naturally I've played more RU than RL. Nowadays the forces all play RL too and have done for a while now but the Army v Navy game sells out Twickenham every year, and it's a great day out. Union will never get the same coverage as RL in these parts, same as RL doesn't get the coverage anywhere else other than the M62 belt.
