I've heard the neutral state of Holy Island is at the point of writing a strongly worded letter.

Actually is Berwick Upon Tweed not still at war with Russia? Seem to recall some mad thing a few years back about that

    I believe they still are

When Queen Victoria signed the declaration of war on Russia in 1853, she did so in the name of "Victoria, Queen of Great Britain, Ireland, Berwick-upon-Tweed and the British Dominions beyond the sea." But Berwick was not mentioned in the Treaty of Paris that concluded the Crimean War in 1856, leaving the town still at war with Russia

    Go Berwick :emoticon-0165-muscl

After seeing pics of young kids killed by Russian troops, I'd like to create a new Russian sport....smash putin's head with my Ping 400 driver. Smash it until his miserable face is no longer there. Smash it for all the innocent people killed by him <grr>

So the full football ban is in place..... but once again... silence from the IOC.... as the Russian Olympic Committee still remain unbanned....

FIFA responded to the IOC's ban. It's the IPC that hasn't banned them yet.

anyone else finding that this whole affair is affecting their behavior and thought patterns?
It's all I'm thinking about right now and this isn't normal for me.
It seems to be affecting my mood and behavior a lot too.

Don't think it's affecting me in that way but the idea of war in Europe in my lifetime still doesn't quite compute to me, I just never thought I'd see it

Yeah, that's to be expected mate. Worth remembering you can't help anyone else if you don't look after number one. And consuming 24 hour doom isn't good for you at all, so make sure you look after yourself. Take a break, get some exercise. Enjoy the football (isn't it refreshing to be able to say that to a Newcastle fan?!).

Not at all. There are wars happening all the time. Some started by us, some started by others. Either way, it changes very little in my own world so give it little thought.

Stop watching the news mate I reckon. We have a lass at work who is thinking about nothing else. Gets in from work, watches it all night. On her phone non stop through the day. She isn't sleeping. I said to her "Do you lose sleep every day about the Israeli murdering of innocent Palestinians and that illegal occupation? Do you worry about those killed in the wars in Ethiopia or Yemen? No you don't because you're not watching non stop news about it". The fear and/or constant occupation of ones brain comes from engaging on the subject hourly/daily etc. I think its massively unhealthy looking at how its affecting people. This comes hot on the heels of COVID fear campaign we've endured over the last 2 years. We have a habit of getting whipped into a frenzy by one subject due to coverage in the media or on social media. Its hard to avoid too.

Well she shouldn't be so ****ing stupid to bother with the corrupt news channels. I asked her what she was watching and she said "I'm just hopping between Sky News and BBC News, they are basically the same" <laugh> I thought you're a lost cause, goodbye
