I agree with you aber. Clough was a one off. Always admired his Derby and Forest teams. They were terrific to watch,albeit only on MOTD highlights. No diving,no arguing with refs,etc.He wouldn't countenance it. He was some centre forward,as well.
Until this season he had a 43% win rate at Orient which isn't bad by most standards. Is highly regarded but of course not done it at Championship level. You can still get better than evens on him (just). Normally the odds are slashed/suspended if someone's anything like that close to a done deal. I worry if we get Slade, not because I think he'll be a poor appointment. Just concerned that the crowd will be screaming for his head if he doesn't get off to flier because he's not Pulis or Lennon. I'd be very surprised and disappointed if the club appoints someone without talking to various options. If they want to talk to Slade they have to ask Orient. Doesn't mean he's got the job.
Can't help believing that some of these names like Slade are deliberate red herrings to divert attention. A club can ask another to talk to its' manager anytime in the full knowledge that it will be in the media within 10 minutes.
