Not sure how I haven’t seen this thread until now. I run with Elvet Striders. Love my running. COVID, strangely, was very good for it, bringing my half marathon time from 2hr 13 to 1hr 47m 40!! Lost a lot of that as I tore my calf in October but am back out and running.

half is “my distance”. I’ll do a marathon at some point to “tick it off the list” but I thoroughly enjoy a half marathon distance. Got the GNR and Manchester half this year. Comfortable at 9 miles now so only a couple more and I’ll be ready for GNR. It’s tough training as a diabetic. Blood sugar control is paramount and I find it really difficult over longer distances. Gels, sweets, drinks! Makes it a nightmare but I still love it. Did Durham 10k and a recent x country for the club I’m in (the willow miner around houghall woods in Durham) and they were fun. Concentrating on half training now

Have to train for marathon so have to get out. Not enjoying it and missing out on target distance by a mile of so but it's too hot. Getting there but looking forward to a break in the weather. Not great running for a fat lad

Back at it for long run straight after work. Managed 20 miles. Took over 3 hours like but happy I git it finished. Kicking off in shiney when I finished police car and van. No one getting knicked think they missed it, what a surprise.

Anyway I've had bath, eaten and now on settee on the brew dog. Big thirst on for tomorrow now :emoticon-0103-cool:
