And, if we don't go up, as seems the likely outcome but hey, who knows, our 'crack' recruitment team have from now until 1st September to line up permanent replacement(s), in case Dijks sticks to his word and only signs on a permanent if we get promoted.
Even Mr Neil and they can't possibly cock that up with seven (7) months notice to work with? :emoticon-0112-wonde

I think you under estimate there ineptitude. Whittaker will be on the bench for the rest of the season (Hopefully!) and we will probably achieve 2-3 clean sheets before the season finishs, that will be direct evidence for Delia et al that we have sufficient quality in the defense and we can focus on the ongoing all important strengthening of the midfield!

    Bah!

Spoken like the true gentleman that you are General!!!!!
What's the betting that the likes of Whittaker and Bassong will be offered new contracts so that AN (or whoever the manager is) doesn't have to play some of the overhyped 'dynasty' ie-Ramsay, Effette, Godfrey etc in the first team.
If opportunities for those aforementioned are going to be limited, then I can see them putting in transfer requests.
PS - I'd add JM to that list if he doesn't at least make the bench a few times before the season ends!!! <doh>

I think its best to actually see how the new players play before judging them. One way or another.

RVW looked great on YouTube, then never hit the heights.

Experience has taught me that it's best to wait and see how they play before passing judgement.

If I'm honest I don't really see Olsson or Brady as a great loss. The only departure I'm not happy with in Canos. I think Dijks would have been a great purchase, unfortunately a loan deal if it goes well is likely to end up with him permanently joining a better team than ours.

One hopes and prays that Basil and Jerome stay fit and not suspended. I guess Neil sees Wildschut as an alternative striker hence the letting of Morris going on loan.

So he hasn't even worn the shirt in anger yet - and is
already ahead of Lafferty in the pecking order <yikes>

I don't even think that Laffs has ever seen the pecking order let alone be on it.

Exactly, though to be fair, he was injured very early on and I don't think he would ever really have adapted to CH's tactics/English football.

I have to agree with your post carrow!!! <applause>

I think Olsson was decent for us in the most part and there are far worse players than him.

Brady, to be honest he looked disinterested in Championship football and I don't think he played anywhere near his best in the last 6 months.

Agreed - and despite seeing him selected at LB on numerous occasions, I always felt there was a mistake not far away. Much happier with him in a more advanced role ahead of Olsson.

We kept Maddison at the club! Let's hope he gets some substitute appearances to show what he can do!

I saw him play in the pre-season friendly against Coventry and more recently in the under 23 game against Villa and he has the ability to read the game well and play some 'defence-splitting' passes. I think he'd be a real threat coming on against tiring defences and if he had been signed by Spurs or ManUre, he'd be a regular on the bench for them!!! <doh>

Morning Guys, ok here's my take on yesterday's events and the window in general.

We've sold Ollsson for £3M which is arguably a steal for Swansea despite his age. However he had made it clear a few months ago he wanted out despite signing a new contract which was only to ensure we got a fee for him IMO. A decent left back but not irreplaceable.

We've brought in Dijks from Ajax as his replacement who by all accounts is a more powerful and versatile player, have Ajax ever produced a really bad player?

We've sold Brady for nearly twice what we paid for him, a player who has wanted away for some time and to be honest hasn't been pulling up any trees for us this season.

We've brought in Wildschut who, despite not knowing too much about him, appears a more than adequate replacement from the footage I've seen and also is hungry and wants to be here.

We've sold Canos who, IMO was a strange signing as the few times he has featured has appeared lightweight and easily shrugged off the ball. We have players (Murphy's, Jarvis when fit), who are well ahead of him. Keeping him here would have done the player nor the club no favours.

We've loaned out Morris to Rotherham, who despite our recent result against them, can hardly be considered rivals to us in this league. Again he has others ahead of him, in fact AN even considers Lafferty to be so !

In conclusion, we've received circa £20M in transfer fees and outlayed approx £8-10M taking into account the loan fee and wages for Dijks and I feel have actually improved our starting eleven.

Oh and despite what we've all said about our current CEO, unlike the previous incumbent he has managed to get deals done on deadline day.

    Disclaimer:

My account hasn't been hacked this is KIO being positive for once ;)

See, this is going to cause confusion galore, especially for those who
don't get to games and rely on radio commentary!
Previously, 'Wildschut' was the exclusive domain of an Alex Tettey goal attempt,
blazed high over the bar and into row Z - now it'll have two meanings!<yikes>

Cromer, I thought you were more astute than that. That is the time the deal was announced, not the time the paperwork was submitted to the FA.
