Will he stay or will he go? BBC sport are reporting Chelski are interested in Ruddy again. Do we need to get promoted to stand a chance to keep him or do you think this time he will be on his way?
It was a good double save in front of the cameras against Ipswich. Maybe Abramovich saw it and said "I buy!"
If Chelsea come knocking again, he could be tempted to move. Perhaps we could be tempted to sell if they loan us player as a 'sweetener'. Patrick Bamford anyone??????
Think they're going to sign Greeno as back up so don't expect them to come knocking for Ruddy this summer
Ruddy seems quite loyal. The last time Chelsea wanted him, he told the club he'd only go if they wanted the money. I don't think he would want to go and be a back up GK to be honest.
I think that's Čech that's having talks with Besiktas, Chelsea number one GK is Courtois, so Ruddy would still be back up.
I haven't watched a Premier League game this season. The only league I watch and keep up to date with is what ever League NCFC is in. I only knew because I go on the Metro website.
I'm a little surprised at this reported interest from Chelsea. He's a fine keeper but I don't think JR is quite back at the levels of 2 years ago. As the latest example, and perhaps I'm being a tad harsh in my expectation, the Ipswich play-off goal might have been prevented by better handling - and he's made that same kind of mistake more than once this season, e.g. the Forest goal at CR. From what limited action I've seen, Greeno has had a pretty good season so I suggest that Jose looks in that direction (Greeno might have to take a cut in salary, of course!) and leaves our JR well alone.
The report is from the Daily Star, it doesn't say there is any interest, it says Chelsea might look to Ruddy.
Yes, it does seem odd to go somewhere and know they'll most likely be on the bench a lot of the time!!!!
I think Ruddy could have gone last season when we went down so I doubt he'd leave when we went up. Seems a pretty solid and loyal sort of chap who has settled well here although whether he would want another season in the Champ if a mid range Prem side came calling who knows? As long as RH is England manager he is unlikely to be given a fair crack of the whip so it's down to money versus game time and happiness at the club you're at. He spent years in the ressies before joining us and I can't imagine it's a life he misses.
He doesn't seem to be the type to be prepared to be second choice but for an inflated salary. Let's face it, players at clubs like ours playing for several years are multi millionaires. Back in the EPL with us he will earn enough in ONE season to make him comfortably off. Only the greedy would seek to move just for the money rather than footballing reasons.
Was having this conversation yesterday in a (fine) north Norfolk hostelry - who still charge £2.70 a pint for all their real ales and the two names that sprung to mind were Shaun Wright-Phillips and Scott Sinclair. Both careers, though threatening to really take off, hit a brick wall with the big money moves. Nett result is if one of the moneybags clubs buys all the WCT emoticon-0112-wonde), it stops them playing for the competition.
Here's the "report" / goss /garbage from the Daily Star: http://www.squawka.com/news/report-chelsea-could-replace-petr-cech-with-norwichs-john-ruddy/375884?
I think Ruddy has cost us alot of points this season. I've said it many times before, all goalkeepers make great saves, its the mistakes they make that determine how good they are. He's made a few too many this season I still really like him but if we got silly money I'd say let him go. Particularly if we should (heaven forbid) lose in the play off final.
He also saved us points, but if he does go and we're still in the Championship next season then Rudd I think will do well at this level, maybe not the the PL though.
