When fit and available Hart,Forster,Butland and Foster all seem to be in front of JH now. I fear he will never be rated by Hodgson After a shaky start on his return after injury I feel he is No2 to Hart. Is it the poor results and goals conceded that are counting against him? I do fear for his International chances.
How are Butland and Foster ahead of him? In my opinion, Hart is 1st choice and Forster is 2nd choice at the moment (just).
Can't say I've seen much about Butland or Foster recently, but I'll have to take your word for it as I haven't really read much about the England squad at all of late.
I couldn't understand the other night when they were talking about Ben Foster being England number 2! He hasn't done anything close to John Ruddy to deserve a place in the squad. In my mind the list should go 1 - JH, 2 - JR, 3 - FF, 4 - BF and 5 - JB. tbh, I'm only putting JB in there because he is only talked about, haven't seen anything yet to justify his hype.
Probably because he is being advised by his goalkeeping coaches and medical staff about the lingering effect of JR's injury. I don't see any reason to think otherwise. I don't think JR has yet recovered full agility.
Considering Dave Watson is the England 'keeper coach, I'm willing to go with Roy's decision on which 'keeper starts for the most part.
I'm guessing Hart will play 90 minutes against ze germans, thought it a bit harsh that Ruddy didn't even get half an hour against Chile
the press seem to love forster, and clearly believe foster will be the main challenge to hart when he returns from injury due to the wba link with roy we don't really know what roy thinks other than forster is probably no.2 at the mo, just. I agree with yarcos assessment and fear he won't make the brazil squad, based on where we are now. are we suffering again from the media's lack of interest in us?
On a related note, how fun do these 'keeper drills look!? JH, FF, and JR all looking sharp, but then I guess they won't have included when they balls it up! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8892f02Y-E
That is it in a nutshell - the only thing against that conclusion is that Hodgson seems to love Southampton players. Otherwise, bigger club beats smaller club every time. Same goes for the cricket where Surrey and Middlesex will outdo any midlands player for example. It is an establishment truism.
It could be a result of the 7-0 defeat, but it could also be that Roy knows about Ruddy and wanted to see what Forster could do (and I'm not sure he did as much as he could have done on the first goal against Chile). Time will tell, I suppose.
A recent scoreline of 7 - 0 hasn't exactly enhanced his claim. We all know (Hodgson included) it could have been worse but for his (Ruddy's) heroics, but.....
Could be a blessing in disguise. That team looks like it heading for humiliation to me,and I don't just mean against Germany.
Suspect the truth is that there isn't a lot to choose between the back-ups to Hart. I don't think Ruddy is yet back to top form by any means, so not sure it is really a great injustice that Hodgson doesn't regard him as No.2 to Hart.
Forster has had Champions league games and played some blinders so deserves his place, there were 3 keepers drafted in and Ruddy was one of those even though he hasn`t had a great season yet. If we keep a few clean sheets he will be in Brazil with his flip flops on watching the England side from the bench .
