From what I've seen of him (admittedly only in Europe and not the SPL), I would actually say he appears to be as good as Ruddy. I wouldn't have an issue with him playing for England at all.

certainly last season forster still suffered from the age-old keeper problem, 'not had much to do all game but dozes off when the one chance arrives'. i think ruddy's concentration is superior but like i say, i've not seen much of forster this season. forster's reactions are a bit sharper. there's not a great deal between the two from what i have seen - it's down to personal preference

I think Ruddy is the best out of all 3 when it comes to his concentration, his maturity and what goes on between his ears. Very much a calming influence but also commands respect and not arrogant

it'll be purely based on the couple of games against barca though.

i saw him have a few poor games last season against the likes of ross county and dundee united, though to counter that he was inspired on other occasions but when you're incredibly busy as a keeper you will make great saves more often. i'd be far more wary of sticking him in goal for england ahead of hart or ruddy.

i don't care how good anyone thinks jack butland will be one day - he is absolutely miles away from being international class right now, so why discuss him? it just heaps more pressure on the lad. he isn't even good enough to play premier league football. i wish people would just leave the kid alone. he's 20, let him enjoy his football, get some experience and get better - he has a lot to learn - he could do without the massive media intrusion and dave watson hasn't helped the situation by trying to get him fast tracked

in a way it's better that roy sticks with Hart - if ruddy or forster comes in, and say they make a mistake, it could be a 'Rob Green' / 'Scott Carson' moment

It's true - even a minor mistake will be seized upon by the media because they will be desperate to question Hodgson's decision even as they are desperate to question Hart's suitability now. Anything for a story.

The whole debate is academic anyway, because Hart will definitely play in the up-coming qualifiers unless he suffers injury beforehand. Hodgson has made his position abundantly clear time and again. Hart is the England No.1 and will play if available, full stop. <ok>

What about if the Everton game is a complete disaster though?, I think if Everton thrashed City things could change.

What Robbie says is true - it will be Hart unless he has another disaster this weekend and the press effectively hound him out. The downside is then that if JR comes in and he makes any kind of error that costs us the spot in the World Cup finals then there will be all hell to pay. "Makes a Ruddy mess of his chance" etc. - you can see it now!

Which is why I enjoy watching Martin, Snodgrass and Whitaker playing rather than watch England.

I don't see the hype in Butland he wasn't exactly very impressive for Team GB in the Olympics, he'll become one of those typically overrated young English players, this in my opinion is whats exactly wrong with our international football system, the youngsters become either Premiership - Championship journeymen or promising players who careers have been blighted with injuries, which usually serves as a smokescreen because in reality when they do actually play they are very mediocre players.

Hodgson is a daft bugger, to show that kind of favouritism is ridiculous, the England manager should in theory be impartial and do what's best for England. I can imagine the phone conversation now: Hart "I stuffed up bad last tonight", Hodgson "don't worry you'll always be my special golden boy" <laugh>
