Haven't seen a lot written about him since the game so thought I would start a thread about him!

Before the game on Sunday I was a bit worried for Rudd, thrown into his first PL start and he had Odimwengie and Long to deal with. This is all added on top of the fact that he conceded 4 against MK Dons.

But, I was proved wrong - he had an excellent game! The goal he conceded wasn't really his fault and he's only 20! The only issue I had with him is his name, as I kept calling him Ruddy throughout!

He made some great saves throughout and is definitely one for the future.

As for the penalty save, brilliant! He had to face Odimwengie who has proved to be a good PL striker. It was a great penalty and a fantastic save. It was unfortunate that his first taste of PL football was a Lampard penalty and he very rarely misses them.

But his save, and the game, will give him a huge confidence boost that at such a young age could help his career. He knows that in his first PL game he had a brilliant game with very little experience.

Not only will the game have helped Rudd but it will have given the fans a huge boost as well. Ruddy has proven himself and now Rudd. We have a competent number one and a good sub' 'keeper.

I don't want to get ahead of myself here as he's only 20 and it's only one game, but he may well be a great first team 'keeper in the years to come.

Also, Steer is supposed to be better, so the future looks bright in the Norwich City goal.

Full marks to PL for showing the faith in him and 8 out of 10 for the performance. I aren't convinced that Ruddy wouldn't have been a bit closer to De Laet for the goal and Rudd did also spill one shot but overall I thought he did a lot better than an emergency loan signing would have done and I would have few fears if he has to play again this year. End of semi critical assessment!!

Its quite ironic that we have been complaining about the 4 pens we have conceded yet saved 2 of them, remarkable really

a shaky start but he grew in stature as the game went on. looked like he took a knock in the first half too but hobbled on and produced a good penalty save. i'm really pleased for the lad but i hope he gets loaned out at some point to get a season of games behind him.

Agreed. Maybe a mid table Championship club?

  11. Yes, but very poor kicking throughout. He lost us possession too many times. I have always thought he was a good keeper, potentially better than lewis but still too rough around the edges. Needs some experience. Poor distribution can prove very costly in the pl.

We've produced some good keepers over the years. Green, Lewis and now Rudd and Steer. Can see one of Rudd and Steer leaving though as both can't be first choice 'keeper when it comes to it.

agreed on distribution - but it's all a learning curve and overall thoroughly promising - at times he looked like he was absolutely crapping himself - must've done him the world of good to save the penalty - although I'd hardly say it was a great penalty - good height etc, but still, decent save...can feel very proud of his overall performance i'd say...

  14. I agree, overall he was very good - especially for someone thrown in like that. He claimed some good balls from the air, could do nothing about the goal and saved the penalty.

He has improved greatly since he first broke onto the scene, just needs to spend some time training on his kicking.

Remember Forster and his kicking. Wasn't great then he improved throughout the season. I only remember one bad kick from Rudd anyway.

  16. Sorry but there were 5 in succession that went straight to a west brom player towards the end of the match. I assume you are talking about the one that went straight across the ground and was lucky to have hit crofts....? that was particularly bad.

There were many that landed way wide of it's target, when he was trying to kick quickly it was going all over the place. If someone were to put a compilation of his kicks together from the game you'd see what I mean.
