Hang on Cest' you were fully expecting a win lol! Still my take on it was that we went out to defend. As yet Fletch' and Sess' have no understanding, this seems to be a trait with whoever is playing with sess'! Mcclean was okay for me. I felt Johnson would have ripped Johnson a new arsehole if that makes sense. We played okay today but so did Liverpool. I knew when Titus came on we were in trouble, otherwise I don't think Liverpool would have scored. Fletcher as yet has won very little and linked very little play (this maybe due to sess' being ****) but the boy can score. West "hump it long" Ham may well be another tricky game away from home. We all know how dodgy homer refs in London can turn the tide. Thought Catts was MOM today, the Rose looked good. We son't seem to have fit going yet. Still in the traps.
JC was tremendous imo. Anybody who wants to argue with that just name the time and place and the duel can commence.
Gil T,see my post,JC is going to be a legend for us!Just a shame that he is playing in the same team as Bramble!!
Just read some of the posts on here and, while I agree we were utter ****e today I'm not sure it's time for MON to call it a day or for phone calls to Hull for nomoregeordies best mate. MON got the tactics wrong the lads played poorly and, we got away with it and a point. Agreed 11 games or whatever it is without a win isn't great but I can't remember many defeats in those games 3/4 tops. Hold on to those nads lads we are only 3 games in and, no need for panic stations. There must be some sort of gas leak up in NE1 as they seem to be a bit more complimentary about us than we are.
To say this thread is a slight over reaction by most is an understatement. We were rubbish today but we are unbeaten, just a win will kick start us. Maybe we have all got carried away a bit with a couple of decent signings. In essence this is the same team as last with now having a 15-20 a season goal scorer. My only negative point is that oneil sets his team up to get 10 men behind the ball and counter attack, unfortunately I don't think we have got the players to do this and should concentrate on ball retention.
Our basic and fundamental problem is ball retention, it looks as if in Fletcher we have somebody who will stick the spherical object in the back of the net. We need possession to create chances, for a start MiG is a great goalkeeper but crap at kicking the ball out, get him to pass the ball. This would be a start!
I certainly was expecting to win mate but we didnt deserve to. In fact we were maybe lucky to get a point at all and that was very disappointing. Liverpool were not great at all but we were poor in too many places and we simply cannot control the ball and the game for any periods. When AJ is fit, MoN needs to start finding the best 11 to make up the team and not the best 11 players we have just accommodated in the team.
To be fair our big name players have not stepped up as yet, Fletcher aside. Our defence seems fairly solid however Our three best centre halfs are prone to injuries. We are still 4 players away from a really good first team. Sess thus far has been a passenger but we know he can only get better. Johnson can only improve us. My big worry is that's two games in a row we have been very poor in the second half! Is it fitness?
Mindset is as ever.... if we get a point. WBA wiped the Pools bums and stuffed them. To heck with reputations. They were there to be beaten and we should be capable of doing it but until we get a forward thinking/looking midfield player (maybe Gardner) we will play this way forever!!!
