This is mad, bristol Rovers have signed Lance Cronin, I think they will notice that he is no good, But there is one bit that makes me happy and that is where Buckle calls us a big club which he is right and I am happy he said that.

Bristol Rovers have completed the signing of goalkeeper Lance Cronin, subject to a medical.

Cronin made seven appearances for Gillingham last season after signing for them last summer from Ebbsfleet.

Rovers manager Paul Buckle said: "We now have a team of two good goalkeepers and a goalkeeping coach. Lance is 25-years-old and has great deal of experience.

"He did very well at Ebbsfleet under Liam Daish, someone whose judgement I trust and then went on to Gillingham and been part of a big club, so he's ready for the challenge here.

"Technically he's a very good keeper and will be a great addition to the squad."

No disrespect to him but he is a NON league keeper, He was great for Ebbsfleet but not us so he showed that he was one that can't take that jump up so Rovers will find that out in their own time.

Bristol have taken a punt on him. Just as we did. Last year Hessy thought maybe he can do it in League 2 and it was obvious he couldn't. Buckle has had the same thought, hoping he can do what he did at 'Fleet. Just as he did here he will spend most of his time at Bristol picking splinters out of his backside.
Good luck to him but I have to agree with Hoadie on this one he is nothing more than a good non-league keeper.

7 league appearances conceeding 14 with 12 of those coming in 2 games (Bury and Accrington). Rovers are welcome to him!

    I'd rather wait and see,
We rejected Jackson as a youngster then paid big money to get him back.
We were glad to see the back of Crofts, aren't Norwich fools for signing him.
We rejected Kedwell on a free, so we can pay good money to get him now.

We might be the best supporters in the English football league, but we're crap at pretending to be managers.;)

I wholeheartedly agree. I was even crap at the original Football Managerand could not even get my team out of non-league football. It will be interesting to see what news comes out of Priestfield in the next couple of days now that the Chairman is back.

Spot on but I doubt Cronin will shine, I was not happy to see the back of Crofts, Thought the fans were pissed off at seeing him go, or do you mean Stimson was glad to see the back of him.

I agree, I don't think I know a Gillingham fan who was pleased to get rid of Crofts.

Releasing Crofts has turned out to be a mistake but I believe the main culprit for his departure was Jepson. To give him the captaincy at such a young age put extra pressure on him and it affected him big time. The Crofts in 07/08 and 08/09 was nothing compared to the Crofts of 06/07 and Jepson should have known better. Stimson, it seems, pushed the panic button and preferred not to try and get his confidence back up. But even if he had stayed there's no way he would have hung around in League 2/low-end League 1 so either way, the chances of him being here at this moment in time were pretty much nil.

Your right about not getting him here now but I am positive that when he is getting older maybe 30+ he will return to the Gills. After all he's a Chatham Lad! :emoticon-0105-wink:

I think the only way we will get him is if in a few years he wants to move on and we are a good side in league 1 or a Championship side, then we will get him, at the moment I don't think he will wanna leave Norwich as he has got his go at the premiership, where he should be>
