some stats after 10 games..... we are joint top in whole football league having conceded most goals (2) from throw in situations. 56% of our shots are on target which is the 2nd highest in league 2. goals scored stats: 7 in open play and 2 from set pieces...... 0% from our left, 43% from central, 57% from our right. 00-15 mins - during this time 22% of our goals are scored. 16-30 mins - during this time 0% scored. 31-45 mins - during this time 0% scored. 46-60 mins - during this time 34% of our goals are scored. 61-75 mins - during this time 22% of our goals are scored. 76-90 mins - during this time 22% of our goals are scored. this shows were ****e attacking from the left. also shows were doing ok attacking down the right as over half our goals come from the right. also shows and the players heads drop if we dont get the 1st goal as we have not scored a single goal from 16mins to half time! we seem to improve a lot after mcghee has given the players a bollocking at half time scoring 78% of our goals in the 2nd half. goals conceded stats: 12 in open play and 4 from set pieces...... 17% from their left, 75% from central, 8% from their right. 00-15 mins - during this time 13% of their goals are scored. 16-30 mins - during this time 19% of their goals are scored. 31-45 mins - during this time 25% of their goals are scored. 46-60 mins - during this time 19% of their goals are scored. 61-75 mins - during this time 13% of their goals are scored. 76-90 mins - during this time 13% of their goals are scored. this shows poor defending from our left side and total ****e defending from the middle. we concede more goals just before half time than any other time during the game. conclusion from above stats..... our left side is our weakness and needs improving both defending and obviously attacking. our right side is our strongest. were best attacking down our right and hardest to break down this side of defence as well. in the middle is a concern, condeding 3/4 of goals against in this area. reason could be several partnerships tried at CB or lack of help from CM. woodards will make our strongest side (right) even stronger when he returns. kenneth getting better each game and forming a partnership with parkes will improve. now the CM need to do their bit and break down attacks before our defence is tested. other attacking stats: we are averaging 12.2 shots (on and off target) per game - 5th best in league 2 behind burton, bradford, rotherham and northampton. best is burton averaging 13.2 shots per game. so were not far behind them so we are creating chances and there is bags of potential there to get goals and thats great news. however the bad news is we are taking on average 13.5 shots to score a single goal, which is the worse in league 2. our attacks are being wasted which shows the lack of quality in the finishing because needing to take 13.5 shots to score a goal is mental. also what dont make good reading is 10 games in = 900 mins played and only 9 goals scored meaning its taking on average 100 mins to score a goal which is poor. other defending stats: oppositions are averaging 9.8 shots (on and off target) per game against us - 9th best in league 2. thats not too bad. however the problem is the opposition is needing just 6.1 shots to score past us. so we are ok at stricting chances but the opposition either take their chances (which we dont) or our defence is easily breached and we are the 7th worst in league 2 allowing just only 6.1 shots needed to score past us. now compare us taking on average 100 mins to score a goal with how long it takes on average for the opposion to score past us which is 10 games in = 900 mins conceding 16 = 56 mins on average for the opposition to break our defenses. well i found this interesting anyway. and if this info is easily found, imagine what our opposions can find out about our strengths and weaknesses to prepare. simple, attack rovers left side as weak side, stand up and defend in numbers against rovers right side to stop their strong side, rovers are easily breached only taking 6.1 shots to score past them, make sure score 1st goal in game as rovers heads drop quick in games, stay strong at the back as most likely will keep clean sheet as rovers takes 13.5 shots to score a goal so need to limit their chances, be extra cautious and defend in numbers for 1st 15 mins of 2nd half when rovers are most dangerous and boss the middle of the park as rovers concede the most down the middle. like i said so simple to read us by these stats. thankfully certain players fitness are improving, partnerships are forming and players are returning from injury so i expect to see changes within the next 10 games. what do you think?
I've got to keep a secret but cjs has got something happening that will give jgf2 more than an orgasm......
well this was pointless. 3 comments and nothing to do with the actual thread but about JFG who ever that is. based on this wiz, i wont bother. i cant see the point spending time and effort to be honest
JohnGalleyFan2 is an old 606'r who came over when we all joined up and he is an absolute addict for statistics,it's a back-handed compliment cjs,I understand your decision but it would have gone down well with the City board as a whole... Still as they say, message understood...
CJS Understood is a concept that most City supporters have a problem with By the way excellent post (For Rovers fans) COR
just to make clear i wasnt being funny with anyone who has posted or not posted. im just disappointed that the time/effort last night was a waste as i thought it would make a good discussion thread but.... i just dont want to spend the time/effort again and get a similar response as this thread. or get accused of wumming by certain people if stats are not in your favour. or get called obsessed with your lot! if you think it will go down well then its on your head
I think this post shows the dedication CJS has to Bristol Rovers FC, this is a very well put together thread capt. and I applaud you. I haven't read it yet as I have a life but I will make sure I do! I joke, I joke!
Not much to discuss, the stats pretty much say it all but still a worthwile thread/read. Good work CJS
CJS, you can only be complimented on the amount of effort and clarity of your post. It is difficult to comment on something which is presented as a list of collated facts. The comments relating to JGF are relevant because if any one makes any easy to understand comment using statistics on the Red board, then JGF replies with a totally nonsensical, mindblowingly, confused statistical statement in return. Generally speaking good coaches have an instinctive nose for the weaknesses and strengths which your analysis exposes. However it is interesting that the opposition can obtain such information without actually watching opponents play a match!!.
the way i see it, your safety officer has been up to his old tricks again, this time behind the england/poland game tonight getting postponed
