    Quick synopsis.
All exiled teams can play in the Welsh cup and should they win a European spot is guaranteed. However, they may not participate in the FA or Carling cup.

    Personally, not interested.

Presumably the FAW approached Uefa AFTER consulting the respective clubs?
To drop out of the FA and CC Cups to play in a Welsh Cup they kicked us out of in 95 is the first step on the road to joining the Welsh League full stop imo.
I doubt Cardiff Newport or Wrexham would want that and I'm damn sure Swansea are happy to stay where they are.

Hmmmm interesting and with us so close to the premiership I am not sure if it would be against a chance to play European football. We could already play the best teams in the country if we get promoted. We have had decent runs in the cup in the past years and won it (F.A Cup) before. A chance to win a cup and qualify for Europe might outweigh the F.A Cup lets face it most teams are focused on the survival not the cups when they get there so would it be any different for us??

Also would the lure off European football help attract better players giving us an advantage over similar clubs??

Obviously its not a given that we would win the competition but we would have a far greater chance with only a few teams likely to win it on a regular basis.

Iv'e anwered this on a similar thread thus...The FAW as usual put themselves before the people they are supposed to represent,to gutless to back down and to naive to think the clubs wont tell them what they can do with it.They like the WRU have always treated members like naughty little school kids when the truth is THEY need to grow up and realise hey are not as important as they seem to think they are

Yeah the ability to develop your personality to have a sensible debate. Still it’s never too late to learn although I appreciate the difficulty you may have!!

Had to get it in didn't you VETCH? Not a word in your pathetic comments about the subject of a decent article posted on both boards, just more snipes at a Cardiff poster's innocent comment. You really are a sad board-lurker with very little to say about football, just waiting the opportunity to belittle others.

As far as the article subject's concerned, whilst it may be attractive to Wrexham and Newport at this stage of their re-developement, I doubt Cardiff and Swansea would touch it with a bargepole. FAW trying to re-establish some international credibility in Europe - they need to re-establish it with the Welsh clubs first.

Newport, Wrexham and Merthyr have elected to participate and if the report is to be believed will not be able to enter the FA and Carling cups. With Cardiff, Swansea and Colwyn Bay opted to not take part. Surely UEFA will insist it's all or none? Especially if either Newport or Wrexham get into the league proper.
Personally I can't see the benefit, the Welsh cup does not generate enough interest or cash to compensate a run in the FA or Carling cups. Perhaps Newport, Wrexham and Merthyr are being a bit short sighted or realistic? They may well be better off using the Welsh cup as a route into Europe and more cash but not good for either Cardiff or Swansea in my opinion.

Vetchertarian, I will ask the mods to remove your posts as you have added nothing to this thread. Go to the banter board for cheap shots. I prefer considered and thought out debate to your puerile efforts.

wrexham should be a league two side next season anyway so why they would be interested is odd to say the least. the swans are top of the fair play league as it is and are favorites to win it and that would give us a place in european competition anyway, dont forget also we are still in the running for a place in the premiership, so why would we as the top club in wales bother replying to the WFA, if they are daft enough to even consider we would be interested then they are out of touch with the real world....

Didn't know about the fair play league but easy survival and a Uefa place would represent one hell of a first season in the PL for you lot!
Don't know if Uefa place would help or hinder survival next year. Better players may be attracted but a very early start and extra games would really test the squad.

I'd be gutted in we stopped playing in the 2 cups, total non starter for both sides imo.

If Cardiff and Swansea join the Welsh cup would be a mess.

You will have top class players from Swansea and Cardiff playing in the welsh cup - no other team will get a look in if we are being honest really? Cant see the Welsh League clubs being happy with that!
