Who is Rory Watson? "As is mandatory with most football clubs, 18-year-old Hull City goalkeeper Rory Watson was made to stand on a chair and belt out a tune during dinner before the Tigers' trip to Newcastle having made the match-day squad for the very first time. Watson, using a water bottle as a microphone, plumped to warble his way through Jason Mraz's slushy hit "I'm Yours", with the resulting pitch-perfect vocal performance taking everybody in the room by surprise. Uploaded to Youtube by Hull captain Curtis Davies, here's young stopper Watson's X Factor audition tape."
Considering he's 18, made the match-day squad for the first time and Davies describes him as a 'young stopper' it doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to deduce he's a young goalkeeper who's come through the development/youth/reserves does it?
Clearly maybe be not Sherlock Holmes but at least someone with more "nous" than I have! However, maybe I am misunderstanding "Match Day Squad"-another deficiency-I was foolishly thinking that he was on the bench but I guess not. The match day squad is-now obviously-bigger than the eleven on the field and the subs. But still it appears a little strange-even to someone like me with less nous than your average punter-that an 18 year old goalkeeper, who few have heard of (especially considering that Jakopavic and Cracknell would be ahead of him would make the match day squad. Stretching what little nous I have must mean that the club think highly of him and given our goalkeeping woes at the moment maybe worth some discussion? Even Watson might think this.
I could be wrong here, but I think that you can only have two senior goalkeepers in the 'matchday squad', but you can have a youth goalkeeper on standby in the stands. The young lad for Watford that dropped the bollock that helped us get promoted (Jack Bonham?) was sat in the stands before kick off but an injury to both keepers meant he ended up coming on in the first half.
Anyone else seen his city initiation? Daughter just shown me it! Can't do link on my phone, But have a look! Sorry it's merged! :-( good though!
