I know what you mean Scully - because of 'stranger danger', our school has a policy that the little darlings are delivered to the school gates by the teachers for handing over to the parents. On Wednesday, one boy from my class was duly handed over to his mother who handed him his scooter and told him to ride it up the middle of the road while she 'had a chat'. He did, and scooted straight into the path of a car coming around a corner - at which the stupid mother started berating the driver. <doh>

I remember walking safely to primary school too - I used to bore my kids with stories of how far I had to walk & they never believed me until I took them there and made them walk it. Eight miles a day - only two miles to school, but I had to go home for lunch every day. Times have certainly changed.

On 5 Live this morning they had a report of a new "App" that parents can use to see how dangerous the roads around their schools are - no doubt they will be checking the App on their phone whilst parked on the double-yellows or zig-zags outside their little darlin's school.
Road I live in has the village Lower School (yes in The Shire, they still have the Lower, Middle & Upper model) - I see the mummies park up all over the place to drop their bunnies off, they drove all of 500m. Their bunny could have walked and crossed at the Pelican crossing with no problems - absolutely pathetic

I remember when I was at school, the bus home not turning up due to snow, there were a group of us who walked back from opposite Franny Combe. My younger sister and I had the furthest to walk, and we took an hour including a short cut through Sherwoods (I think) primary school and I would have a guess that including the distance from the school to the bus stop, we walked almost 3 miles.

They should make cold calling illegal. We must get 3/4 calls every day.

Get yourself a premium rate number - at least then you'll be making money out of the annoyance. ;)

Alternatively, have some fun with them by speaking in mock German/French/Italian/Scottish - they soon hang up....
