Given he’s most likely away I thought a tribute was in order. Thanks for the memories big man. #insurancethread
After a slow start he has been mint. His all round contribution to the team 2nd half of the season was brilliant.
Ahhhh the old reverse psychology trick...i shall have to try that more next season:- 1. Don't bet on the toon and we'll win 2. Don't go to the pub to watch the toon and we'll win 3. Don't think we'll win and we'll win Hope he's still here next season....I hope his contract is part of the discussions Rafa is having currently. We've got a good core in our team now when everyone's fit...we need to learn our lesson from our 5th placed finish under Pardew and build on that if we are to progress and improve on last season. Every other team will be. History is where we learn our lessons The future is where we apply those lessons Don't **** it up in between
Tribute? **** me that's over the top. He is a season long loan who has done fairly well. Yet he gets a tribute. Whereas Chaos suggests us taking him leaving is a sign of Ashley's success, I would suggest that our fans now paying tribute to a guy like Rondon is the actually the coup de grace for Ashley. We are so desperate that some season long loan who turned up fat is now a hero. Well done Mr Ashley, clearly you have won.
This for me! Last year he could have had a pie eating competition with HBA and MA and not look out of place.
Less than I would have liked to have gone and certainly way less than people on here thought I had ;-) Definitely not 17 times tho that’s for sure.
It is sad when you look at it like this. Our highlights of the season are: 1) a striker who managed to lose weight over 2-3 months and then scored a few 2) a young midfielder who had a promising few good games before getting a season ending injury 3) an attacking midfielder who joined in January and looks like ET who had no assists or goals before also getting injured 4) a defender who managed to score a few goals and swallow his own tongue However for some reason I feel really good about last season and really confident about the next one.
I must admit I never get the over top negative vibe from certain supporters. Its all the end of the world type stuff. The Rafa situation is over dramatic. Every transfer window is over dramatic. There were people guaranteeing relegation for the last two summers despite not being one of the 3 or 4 worst squads in the division, and paying royally to have one of the top managers. It makes you cringe at times because it comes across like children who don't know any better. Reality is its probably misguided passion but you can see why from the outside they think, "for ****s sake people". I am looking forward to next season, hopeful Rafa will be here and hopeful we will buy at least a couple of quality players. If we can concentrate on two quality signings minimum, we should have a good year. If we could get 4 then even better. Almiron is gonna have been here for 7-8 months, Longstaff will be continuing to improve - I think you are right to feel good. However come the lead up to the start of the season, I guarantee you'll get the same old drama.
Those are my highlights too! It's often that strikers especially come back a little bit unfit after the summer but once he was fit, he not only picked up important goals and assists but his all round play drastically changed the ability and belief in our play. Shame about Longstaff but he'll come back stronger next season - we've been crying out for a young Geordie to play with heart and I'm sure he'll be that guy. Hugely rate Almiron too - although he didn't pick up he direct goals or assists (although he did get 2 assists, as I had him in my Fantasy team!), he again changed our whole style of football for the better. Schar - what a man.
Ah well if its only a little bit of unprofessionalism we'll let it slide. I paid to watch the **** lollop about doing **** all for his first few games, but as long as he enjoyed his pabellón criollo and Cerveza Zulia. I never saw Shearer turn up for pre season fat. Indeed only HBA I can recall having this attitude. I mean I do recall a few doing it for my Sunday League team but we didn't hold them to pro standards. Rondon can stick his tribute up his big fat arse.
I kind of agree with you but can we not start our season in August and not January like everyone else BTW I never agreed with a tough start last season that Rafa and everyone else used,if you look at the results the top 6 teams got in the last 6 weeks bar City/L'pool they weren't very good and we could have easily have beaten them even giving L'pool a scare, that's what I think anyway.
My mistake, apologies. I understood that Rondon was fit in pre-season but then picked up a knock as part of the friendlies (in Colombia) he took part in at the start of September - he then took some time to recover and 'get back up to speed'.
Hey mate I like the guy. I think we should sign him and he played well on the whole last season. I just think a tribute is a bit much. I'd like more professionalism of course, but I was probably wrong to suggest this shouldn't be a highlight for you and others because to be fair he was. Its just ACS and his tribute. But he wears yellow chinos, is a mackem, so why I expect better I'm not sure.
