I think it's fair to say that there has been a pretty widespread view on here that Koren's best days are behind him and that is surely true.
However - and I'm interested to hear others views on this - I thought he played particularly well on Saturday and almost made the difference. He made a couple of excellent contributions and the pass he slid through to Jelavic - after winning a 50/50 - was almost decisive.
He's a true professional and I think he still has it in him to be a good impact sub.

By next season if we stay up we can probably do better than him. We all like him but he isnt getting any younger and I am sure he would want a contract far longer than we would be willing to give him.

Yes, that might be right mate. I'm really commenting more about the remainder of this season I suppose - and trying to give credit where it's due.

He can still show his quality there is no doubt about it. I would be shocked if he didnt feature now and again for us.

I agree that RoKo played well on Saturday when he came on as a sub. That should be his role. The quality is still there. But he can't sustain it very often when he starts and is a defensive liability. I've been a big fan of his in past years but can't see him being with us next year.

That pass was very good and he did indeed do well when he came on, but I think those games are too rare from him. For every one appearance like that you get 5 from him where he loses possession with every touch.

Whoever the degenerate in the south stand was who was bellowing "boo" at the top of his lungs when Koren came on and every time he touched the ball, kick yourself in the face you ****.

Koren linked the midfield and the front 2 when he came on - which was lacking prior to his introduction

That's the role I'd be expecting from Aluko when he comes back - and if he's subbed I'd be happy for Koren to replace him for the final 15-20.

If Aluko stays fit, he'll be the "creativity" replacement for Koren.

I have said it all season. Now we have Huddlestone - Livermore - Quinn and Meylet,, Koren can only hope to start in cup games.

As saturday and other games have shown Koren is better off the bench now. imo.

I have to agree, his legs won't last the course now, but as sub for the last 20-30 minutes, as he showed Saturday, he still can make his mark on the game.

To be honest I was pretty annoyed we was bringing him on instead of Quinn. Koren played alright tbf, but i still think Quinn is the better option from the bench.

    This.

Also this is going to sound picky but even Koren's best moment in the game started off with a stupid loss of possession from an attempted flicked pass which went to no one. To his credit he won it back in a 50-50 and then played a great ball so he redeemed himself on that occasion, but it was exactly the kind of thing that normally winds me up about Koren. Most of the time he doesn't redeem himself when he does things like that. You can see what I'm on about on the highlights.

Not as a right winger he's not. He was replacing Elmo remember.

I also thought it looked like we were saving Quinn to use as our 3rd sub. If we'd taken the lead again I think we'd have seen Quinn come on for Jelavic. Quinn would have gone to the left and then Boyd played behind Long.
