Who, what is it really? Is it something that is nothing more than a fad from the 50's and 60's, and we have been brain washed for decades?
Elvis came from that era and was considered a good musician...in fact it couldn't have been further from the truth. His looks charmed the women, he had a reasonably decent voice, but was shhite on guitar, he and his fans had Scotty Moore to thank for the early part of Elvis' career. Even in his movies Elvis 'pretended' to play guitar!
I quite like the supposed thinking of rock'n'roll. I love rockabilly music. I always question how Elvis got so famous. His gospel era was ****
Compare Elvis to the instrumental ability of Carlos, they are worlds apart, albeit this was probably late 60's, maybe possibly 71...
Elvis wasn't that bad I assume he improved as his career progressed, why wouldn't it with someone like Scotty behind you.
Not sure talent alone is enough in the music biz They call Bruce Springsteen the boss and he sis the Philadelphia song and it was meh His dancing in the dark holds memories for me but he looks like a camp George Michael before George Michael got camp
Elvis sacked Scotty Moore early in his career. He only appears on the Sun recordings. I don't think anyone ever described Elvis as a good musician. Great voice though. Fats Domino, Little Richard Penniman, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry; those guys changed the ****ing world, far more than Elvis ever did.
Ive done the whole Memphis thing mate, including Sun Studios, oh and not to forget Elvis' little mansion. Although more from a music interest perspective, certainly not as a fan of that generation.
Santana is a great guitarist. But that song was written by another great guitarist, and an old friend. His name. Peter Green.
Yes. I did say early part of his career, about three years. Although he resigned, however, some would argue he was heading out the door anyway.
The original rocker was Bill Haley. But I suppose I’d think more of Chuck Berry, Litte Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, in thinking about who really brought rock ‘n roll to the fore.
