Agreed, we should attacking through the middle and out wide, keep teams on their toes. We just seem to lack the capability to play balls in behind defenders, but I think signing a playmaker like Snodgrass was a great step forward. That Moralez lad on the other thread looked cracking, but as has been said before, I think a loan would be better, so maybe a youth player from a bigger club.
Even with Long in the team we still didn't play balls through the middle, and he was the perfect striker for that in my opinion as he always made really good runs. Are we scared of being offside or something? I'd get another defensive midfielder and push Huddlestone further forward, he's the best passer of the ball we have and I think he'd do well as a playmaker. We should try it at Lokeren and play Livermore and Meyler as defensive midfielders with Huddlestone as a playmaker behind the striker/s.
Not mobile enough I don't think. Also his effortless and almost infinite range of precise passing is very helpful from further back when trying to launch a quick counter attack or relieve pressure. Not to mention he's excellent defensively and at breaking up play which often gets overlooked for some reason. He's a real asset sitting deep.
I know he is, but it wouldn't hurt playing him further forward to see how he'd do. We've played Corry Evans as a playmaker before so Thudd playing there can't be any worse. What about Ince or Aluko as a playmaker?
This^ I think his defensive work is excellent, but no one seems to notice. He's not about crunching tackles, but he's always just getting a toe to in,to dispossess, which means he's still on his feet so can do something with the ball.
He's one of our best for breaking up play, there's no doubt about that. Ince, Aluko or even Brady could play as a playmaker, I think the away leg against Trencin is a good time to experiment in this area.
Alternatively if we had a time machine we could just leave Snodgrass out of the QPR game and avoid this problem entirely.
nope, it doesn't work like that if he hadn't of played, hed have either injured it elsewhere or someone else would be injured,
He dislocated his knee playing for Fulham http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/f/fulham/5340060.stm
While you will have to spend some money to replace Long. You will probably be best of waiting til the end of the window when everyone has to finalises squad and take someone on loan for Snodgrass Scott Sinclair was decent not too long ago and I'm guessing he would be available.
Could Brady do a similar job in the middle I've been thinking for a while he still doesn't have a proper position. Robertson looks like nailing the LWB spot. He has all the attributes to play in the middle like Snodgrass does. I wouldn't pick him ahead of Quinny at the moment anyway but just a thought. Brady is talented but wasted at the moment.
According to my wife who is an orthopaedic nurse, potentially ........yes it could, but he is going to get rather better care than the NHS usually offer, unfortunately TWT
While theres a decent chance it will, but theres a decent chance it won't. Some players have had the careers ruined by little things like weak hamstrings while some have recovered from major injuries and had no problems. No one will really know how he will cope until about a year down the line when he has fully recovered and had a run of games
