For me, he's ****e. Or let's at least say we can do better. Let his contract run out at the end of the season.
Yes he's not the best around but is he on a par or above the quality of our other players? Before this season I'd have said "no" but in the last few weeks he's been possibly our best player (Bournemouth anyone? Today as well). To suggest he's ****e is a touch OTT.
Krul has plateaued. A few years ago I honestly thought he could be the next Van Der Saar, I'm not convinced he's developed at all as a player since I first saw him.
He's made some important saves in the last two matches that have kept us in the game, saying he's ****e is just silly nonsense.
It has to be on merit, and until his performances mean he deserves dropping then he should be in the team. Made some great saves since he came in and has been one of the few not to deserve criticism.
I think you have to be fair to him. I'm not at all convinced but his form this year has been a marked improvement since his arrival. He has done a good job. Also hearing that he was one of the lads leading the half time inquest is good to hear. Maybe it has taken time for him to really believe he belongs at the level. Confidence in your own ability is huge. If he is feeling confident enough to say his piece, maybe he has turned a corner. He has been down the depths of the league, knows the game here, so maybe he can be one of those who we badly need in desperate times to lead us out of the mire.
Have to say, I never rated him and was only too keen to see him depart back to the lower leagues - where I thought his 'talents' were best suited. Must say, since he's come in this season he's been excellent. From thinking he's just a fat clogger, to thinking he's actually a very competent and dare I say it, premier league quality keeper. At least a back up premier league keeper. I've also been extremely impressed with the interviews he's given. He comes across very well and manages to speak without rolling out tired cliches. Fair play to the guy, he's had a real turn around in fortunes at our club and as pouchy says, appears to have discovered a new found confidence in his own ability.
Apparently he was 'leading' the dressing room at half-time yesterday as well. Strikes me as one of the most vocal players in the dressing room.
From what I've seen this season, his form puts him into be the same bracket as Howard, Butland, Mignolet, Stekelenburg etc. I think Krul has a real battle on his hands to get back into the team with Elliot on this form.
Problem us with elliot is that he's like what harper was a decent backup but that's about it as soon as krul is fit he'll be back on the bench
On current performance our ladyboy should be keeping his place, no question He is playing as well as krul (who hasn't improved at all this last couple seasons) and is vastly better at distribution Fair play to him ..He has really impressed recently, the change in him is remarkable compared to previous seasons ..plus it seems he is a voice in the dressing room, all good stuff. It should be his position to lose, not for krul to walk back into
Krul is out for the season right? So Elliott will keep his place anyway. Next season they start with a clean slate. Apparently Elliott signed an extended contract last season so he's not out of contract at the end of this season as I thought. Not sure where Darlow fits into all this though.
