So, we all know that United and 'Pool used to be massive rivals, then it was Arsenal and United. But with all the corrupt money being laundered through the game, skewing the old traditional boundaries, and with teams like Spurs muscling their way onto the top table, coinciding with the demise of the likes of United and Arsenal, are there any real rivalries left? Sure, there are derbies. But does anyone seriously believe that the likes of 'Pool look upon Everton as true rivals? Or that City look at United as anything other than another three easy points? Hell, Spurs now see Wolves as bigger rivals than Arsenal! I suppose with Leeds coming back into the fold, there could be a revival of that old bitter rivalry with Man United - those two teams will be fairly evenly matched - but is it more likely to resemble a hackneyed encounter between two Ray Harryhauson claymation dinosaurs? What do you lads think?
I know what the OP is talking about All rivalries start somewhere and some get created during any given season example Lesta/Spurs rubbed shoulders during 2016 which created a lot of noise between the two sets of fans but it’s not really like that. There’s no real fire between the clubs it was just something that was created due to the title race that year. Not long back City weren’t anyone’s rivals bar United’s...now they have a few rivalries.
Hmm. Some interesting observations, It’s heartening to see you lads pick up this hot potato and run with it.
Surely that should read 'with teams like Leicester muscling their way to the top table' as, iirc, they won the prem recently, and you never have.
