How many lucky penalties have Spurs had this season? The penalty against WBA was our first and it was nowhere near as bad as many made out.
Most overrated player England have produced in a while. For every goal he scores he'll miss 2 sitters.
Aren't penalties always lucky, in some sense? We had one that was wrongly awarded on a Townsend dive, but it followed right after a clear penalty on Townsend that wasn't called. Of the other two, one is called every time, the other, I would say most of the time. I have seen worse than the penalty against WBA. But it wasn't one and it wasn't close to one either. The acting was well above par, though. The leg drag made the dive look like it could have been a penalty. The big problem was the timing: the last few seconds of the last minute of overtime, when it was needed to preserve Mourinho's Bridge juju. Any fair and competent official would have recognized players would be likely to go down without adequate cause. Not to mention that it wasn't a case of an official who gives out penalties freely as a general practice. The same man called that a pen, who didn't call an NFL tackle on Bale a pen.
If it wasn't as bad as everybody made out then why the apology DL? Also this luck of yours has been going on for years now.
So Liverpool score three from set pieces-something we are useless at doing! Howlers from goalies- never against us.Against us they play blinders.
There is a reason that EVERY club he plays for struggles ... in some cases badly... Ipswich (relegated) Charlton (relegated) Spurs struggled in the prem ... we came 13th and 8th with him in our squad our 2 worst seasons in the last 9 Sunderland were struggling when he left Villa were struggling Fulham are struggling
Probably because it was Chelsea so the entire country was in furore. There was no apology when the referee incorrectly awarded Stoke a 96th minute penalty to deny Swansea a deserved win and send Fulham into the relegation zone. Nowhere near the same level of outrage at Wes Brown's red card yesterday. Wonder if Riley will be issuing Poyet an apology? Poyet mentioned it in his interview. As I said on the Chelsea board to YV, whichever way you look at it, it sets a dangerous precedent. Not only did Riley undermine an employee, he also showed clear favouritism to a PL manager. It would be interesting to see if a foreign manager had received an apology as I don't think he would have.
This myth that Bent "guarantees you goals wherever he goes" is a strange one. What has any team in football ever achieved with Bent leading the line? For 3 months Lambert was slated by press (local and national) for starting Benteke ahead of media darling Bent and it only took a small amount of time for people to realise Benteke is superior in every way, as Berbatov/Keane/Defoe all were at Spurs
I've not been able to watch any of the pundits discussions but it seemed to me that Oscar dived. At the point of contact the goalie was stationary.
Who?,i can't remember one better than Saurez since Berbatov, like most fans i don't like Saurez, but he is a top class striker
Push by Giroud too? We are definitely up against a psychological issue where opponents feel under more pressure against the established top four sides and make all manner of cock-ups they don't make against us
DL - You think lying on the ground is a foul? Which of the free kick offences do you think the goalie committed? It might be that Oscar couldn't avoid contact so my dive accusation is a bit harsh but it wasn't a nailed on penalty
There was a major difference. They got offered less than he was worth by Arsenal so it was barmy to sell. We got offered more than he was worth by Real Madrid so it would have been barmy not to
Not only would it be barmy,he wanted to go,it looks like Saurez, didn't really, still don't think he was better than Saurez, probably on par, imo
Anyone with a pair of working eyes could see the contact. Even if they couldn't you only need to look at Jasskilanen's reaction & his fellow colleagues. Not a single complaint.
If pool had been offered £85m for a player demanding to leave they'd have sold...we'd have been stupid beyond belief not to accept £85m...Bale was great for us but £85m?????
