It's a ridiculous and disgusting decision to sack Adkins, especially as he seemed to be rapidly getting to grips with the Premier League. He'll be able to take his pick of appointments though, which may count as some consolation for him. Wish him luck and Southampton relegation, frankly.
An absolute disgrace that Nigel Adkins has been sacked he can walk away with his head held high knowing his achievements with Southampton were top notch, what a joke of a decision good luck Mauricio in trying to follow that
When we went down there in October, he was having a dodgy time but the fans there were right behind him and very vocal in their support for him.I hope he gets another opportunity to work in the PL because he certainly deserves one.
Can't belive Adkins has gone, okay they are stuggling a little but so do most promoted sides, they were just pulling out of the relegation spots as well, reckon they are certainly going down now.
Yes, a great shame. What was the Board expecting? They've sacked him after a good away win "six pointer"? at Villa, clearly they were going to regardless of the result. Also dodgy when the new manager is appointed on the day the previous one leaves, shows lots of behind the back dealing. Yes I know we've been guilty too, doesn't mean I approve.
They held a pre-season tournament at St Marys and there were rumours that because Saints didn't win it, the Board held an inquest with Adkins demanding reasons why. This was only weeks after he'd got them into the PL. It's a crackers decision and made worse by the fact he seems a really decent guy.
The timing is a little off i have to say, the summer would be more logical, team spirit which will have been cemented with the recent run will be out the window now with all players wondering if they'll fit with the new man. It really seems like the worst time to unsettle the dressing room. An Italian runs Soton I believe...funny breed them, rash and impetuous would be good words to describe some, well, most come to think of it!
Another chairman going against the fans' wishes and making a very poor call by sacking the man who was on course to have another successful season with the club after having already done so much for the club. Total disgrace. There's not much more to say about it, these kind of decisions make a depressing outlook for football.
These owners! I'm sure they stick little moustaches on their faces, look in the mirror and salute with a hearty "Heil Me!"
This has to go on the list of epic 's http://metro.co.uk/2013/01/18/john-...elieving-hed-completed-a-rubiks-cube-3357102/
The thing is The Premier League is a soulless league. The decision itself seems bizarre but understandable in relation to other sackings. If a manager can win the CL and FA Cup yet still get sacked 6 months later then it's open game as far as sackings go. RDM, Redknapp, Warnock, Allardyce (Blackburn) & Hughton (Newcastle) can feel arguably as aggrieved as Adkins, as can O'Driscoll, Grayson (Leeds) and Sean Dyche. The obsession with the Premier League is causing clubs to ignore the feelings of fans and act immorally.
Madness, I thought this was a wind up. I could understand if they sacked him when they were getting thumped left right and centre, but its obvious he is adapting to the league, as are the team, the players perform for him and the fans love him. So that means their chairman sacks him? madness!
Allardyce has been charged for pointing out the truth: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21092349 Just like Ferguson was for his disgraceful behaviour over the last few weeks though, I guess. Oh, wait...
It was always going to happen, you're just not allowed to point out the blindingly obvious. Fergie can come out with all the ridiculous nonsense he wants, however.
Yet the blinkered Man U fans will still accuse anyone that states the blindingly obvious an "ABU" or "Conspiracy Theorist"
Remember Savio Nsereko, the striker that West Ham wasted £9m on a few years ago, then flogged to Fiorentina for pennies after only 10 games? He's now signed for 4th tier German side Viktoria Koln! He was also arrested in Thailand in October for faking his own kidnapping, so that he could extort money from his family. Classy!
