Just heard this sad news.......... PROMINENT Pompey fans group member Tony Goodall has today died. The 49-year-old passed away in hospital this morning after initially suffering a stroke 12 days ago. Mr Goodall, from Old Portsmouth, was a well-known and popular figure among Pompey supporters through his tireless work on their behalf. He was spokesman and co-ordinator for the Pompey Independent Supporters Association (PISA). Mr Goodall was also a founder member of the Pompey Supportersâ Trust and one of the original signatories. In addition, he chaired the most recent fansâ conference, when administrator Trevor Birch met with supporter groups and bodies. Barry Dewing, a fellow PISA member and close friend, said: âTony was a tremendous friend and colleague. âYou can never replace him, but those he has left behind will continue his fight for the fans. âTony was always about community.â Thoughts go out to his family and close friends.............PUP BP
I never met him, but he was a good guy and a truer supporter of the club, you could not find. R.I.P and PUP Tony. And very nicely written too, BP. He would have liked your kind words.
Very sad loss indeed - a true Pompey fan. Only 49 - no age at all. Condolences to his family on their loss.
Really shocked to hear of the tragic and untimely death of Tony Goodall, certainly one of life's good people. I knew Tony from work in the MoD at Portsmouth Dockyard where we enjoyed much friendly banter about our respective allegiances to Saints & Pompey. That represented rivalry as it should be, fun! I know that over the years he had worked tirelessly in support of Pompey through both thick & thin, and I do genuinely hope that Pompey pull through in their quest to stay alive; Tony deserves that. RIP Tony you'll be sadly missed mate by both family and friends.
