Rio Press Conference

Just watched it live on You Tube. He came across well and wouldn't talk about Man United as he's now a QPR player and wants to look forward.

HR confirmed Granero deal done over weekend to go back to Spain.

HR said he can't believed Remy failed a medical, must of been something else and he is looking forward to welcoming Remy back to the squad......

 

He came across really well. Think he will be a great influence of the team

 

Yup, agree !!

Rio is going up in my estimations, and what he can achieve for QPR !!

As I was a tad apprehensive when he was first touted as a potential signing

 

I still am - re what he does on the pitch, and how often he will be fit enough to be on it at all. I got absolutely no problems with what he says, and appreciate he can give good advice to his team mates, but I reckon we signed him mainly for what he will give on the pitch.

 

last season wasn't about him being not fit, he was just not picked by Moyes.

 

I know, but he has had major problems so I read, and he isn't so young.

 

I think that was very much a Harry-ism. If he was super fit and raring to go he'd have been picked more regularly

 

I think Rio will do well for us on and off the pitch, and when we go up to Old Trafford on 14th September, he'll be man of the match....

 

But that just adds to conundrum - dont think we should read too much into who Moyes picked and who he didnt and why - very bizarre season for Man Utd.

Giggs said he was fit all/most of the season, while Moyes left him on the bench - who do you believe and what reasons do you take as the truth ??????

Only time will tell whether he can contribute as much on the pitch, as he can in a coaching/ team morale role.

 

yes, only Moyes and maybe the ones closest to him know why Rio wasn't picked. All we can do is hope that he can play in as many games as possible and make a real difference on the pitch too. But I believehis influence off the pitch will be enormous for the team.

 

Did giggs say this or did Harry say giggs said this? We know he's got a tendency to exaggerate.

I thought I remembered reading a giggs quote - but dont quote me on that !!

 

I think it was only ever heard from Harry's mouth! Everybody assumed Rio was injured for a lot of last season, so I imagine Giggs revealed to Harry something along the lines of "He was actually fully fit for a couple of months, but I chose not to play him". Which Harry has turned into "Corr he was faarkin fit all season weren't he. Triffic fella" , in order to 'sell' his signing.

It would be a bit of an anomaly if he'd actually been fit all season, because for the previous few he's had chronic back complaints.
We'll wait and see though!
