With exceptional haste, the FA have given him a 3 match ban. He could appeal but that is unlikely.

    In honesty, it was inevitable.

Deserved ban, it was very disappointing to see it from him and would be more disappointing if he appeals it. Take it, apologise and move on.

I saw it as retaliation for the kid kicking out at Senderos while he was on the floor. We did get the free kick.

And my Apologies - Sascha has been charged with 'violent conduct' but not yet found guilty

I mis-heard the original radio report.

Maybe it was retaliation but to stamp on somebodies leg while they're on the ground is disgusting and he should know better.

Deserved, he should go without a doubt.

Hughes or the new lad now then.

We can't complain if he does get a ban, fully deserved. I'd guess this will be Zverotic's chance to show what he can do.

Hear, hear. From what I have heard Zverotic is quite capable so should be interesting to see if he grabs the chance with both hands.

He's the first case to be considered under a new ruling.

"Fulham defender Sascha Riether has become the first player charged by the Football Association using its new panel of former referees.

Riether is facing a three-match ban for stamping on Manchester United’s Adnan Januzaj during his side’s Premier League defeat at Craven Cottage on Saturday. The FA said the incident was not seen by the match officials, giving it the maiden opportunity to showcase a disciplinary pilot project and punish Riether retrospectively.

In the new process a permanent panel of former elite referees – named on Monday as Steve Dunn, Eddie Wolstenholme and Alan Wiley – reviewed footage of the stamp before deciding whether it was an act of violent conduct. All three agreed it was, allowing the FA to charge Riether and giving him until 6pm on Tuesday to respond."

This was the news report I heard and misunderstood it to be the "final" decision. Given the unanimious opinion of the 3 'experts', difficult to see how the FA can do other than find guilty as charged - unless Riether is able to put forward some mitigating fact.

Strangely, he'd be about the last Fulham player I'd expect to do something like that. He's always seemed calm and in control of himself.

If I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't have believed it. Either way, I blame Jol. ;-)

I read somewhere that there's a chance he could get away with it because Torres got away with the scratch on Vertonghen. Torres wasn't banned because an official saw the incident but not in it's entirety. The ref acknowledged that he saw the incident on Saturday but his view was partially obstructed. He warned Riether after it happened to calm down. I genuinely hope he does get banned but there is a chance he wont.

Sascha has accepted the ban and apologised -

"I want to say I am sorry to Adnan Januzai," he said. "It was very unlike me and I can only say that frustration got the better of me. I also want to apologise to my teammates, fans and everyone at the Club, for the ban incurred following Saturday's match.

"I will accept the consequences of my actions, and hope to put it behind me when I return. I want the fans to know that I will be working hard to stay fit and will be ready to continue fighting for the Club as soon as I am able."

Although it is a deserved ban I'm glad we have appealed it on the grounds that the Fa stated they could not ban Torres for scratching Verthonghen as match officials had seen it and put it in the match report! I'm fed of there being one rule for the top 5 and another for the rest of us!!!!

Although disgraceful as an act, I agree that the same principles need to apply!

The BBC website had a link to this: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/fulham-fight-over-sascha-riethers-2679924

I have mixed feelings. It's fair enough for us to insist on the rules being applied evenly, but getting him off on a technicality seems a little shabby somehow.

Captain I agree, maybe the action should be internally by Fulham to leave him off the squad for the next game...

Reiter losing control and later confessing "... frustration got the better of me ..." is an interesting window into the team right now. There's chaos and gloom in the dressing room, I suspect.

And I, too, agree with the Capt that something should be done internally if the FA can't ban him.

It was Madness who suggested that. Good idea though.
