Why not? I'm as cynical/sceptical as they come but if we can keep the momentum going and create a gap there's a chance we can stay there.
But we won't, we're Liverpool FC, we always have biips where we mess things up. I want to be optimistic, and I am feeling more optimistic about this season but suggesting we may mount a title challenge this season would be ridiculous, sorry.
Will help up with the 4th place scrap but there is a long, long way to go. Delighted there is no Europa League in the way though.
Okay, it wouldn't be normal if I didn't put a damper on things... You could also say, the only way for us is please log in to view this image
Some people are never happy. Ok, so it's not likely we'll stay there but just enjoy while it lasts. If anyone had said before the season began that we'd be two points clear after three games we'd have just laughed at them. We've got off to a good start, and at the very least it gives us some momentum-not to mention points- for the rest of the season. How many games did it take us to get to nine last year?
Alright boys, my 1000th post and I'm going to use it to say we'll get at least top four this season. Some of you will thumb your nose at my meagre contribution but I had a tenner on Sturridge to score first and a 1-0 result for us today so there.
Our next four are Swansea, Southampton, Sunderland, and Crystal Palace. Hopefully we don't have any blips but that is honestly a good chance of 4 wins. Can you imagine if we started the season with 7 wins and 21 points?
I have seen two of your games this season, and must say I am impressed with what I have seen! I am not going to suggest you will be title contenders but I do think this could be your highest placing for a good few seasons
I reckon we'll come back down to earth with a draw against Swansea. Then go on to get 9 points vs Southampton, Sunderland, and Crystal Palace. So 19 points out of 21 - that would be more than respectable, and we'd still be top
It's actually nice to go into an international break on a high for once. Gives us a bit of time to mend Toure etc and get the new boys (fingers crossed) settled in a bit. Not making any wild predictions after 3 games but just delighted with the grit and determination we've shown over the opening games. Three wins without Suarez and Coutinho not at his best....shows a lot of character. Well done Reds
Who knows, one thing is for sure, we have not yet got to the level of how we were playing from jan till season end last season goal wise, we are looking solid at the back which is great. Anytime we've done well it has been based on a solid defence which we've been lacking plus we've two more defenders to come in and Toure was injured and we still looked solid. Lucas Hendo and Gerrard have done a fantastic job this season so far protecting the back line. Add Suarez to the mix and we should be able to push on from how we are currently performing. Cool heads required, one game at a time, no talk of anything but the next game please!
None of this craic Just Swans, I only want to hear talk of that game and how we can get 3 points. After that we'll see about Southampton and so on
Agree with this, with spurs' strong(expensive) squad you would feel that AVB would be obliged to go for the EL trophy, hopefully this will tell on their prem performance. I dont know what deadline day will bring for arsenal but they may well keep their depth minimal and with CL distractions, Liverpool could be in for a decent shout at 4th... P.S. I would obviously love us to be topping the table like this in may!
The fixture list has been a little easier on us this year but none the less we have still had three difficult games. We always struggle to break Stoke down but we managed to grind out a win. We played a Villa side who were flying and full of confidence. And then the Mancs who people expected us to lose to. Extremely positive stuff from the red men!! I hope that we keep our concentration against the lower teams and keep the good run going.
True the fixture list has been easier, but I think we got four points from the corresponding games last year (someone will correct me if I'm wrong), so it's a distinct improvement however you look at it.
