I think they mean he had a meeting with the fringe players and those out of contract in the summer, none of the main first team players were there bar those out of contract

I have a feeling JB will still be in the Hoops next season - eventually. I'm impressed with the measured way the situation has been dealt with by Fernandes and Hughes and, indeed, Amit. Unlike Mancini - "Tevez will never play for City again", they are biding their time and no doubt weighing up the options carefully.

Given that the bloke is actually a fairly decent footballer, why not send him for anger management, see a sports psychologist etc and get his head right before playing again?

I am absolutely not defending the indefensible but, just like we cannot afford to carry peripheral players, can we afford to lose a player of this (often) quality? After being boo'd off by his own supporters, dropped to the sub bench and then coming back to play quality football, some of which was instrumental in keeping us up, I wonder whether the powers that be might just take this on the chin and find a way through it. I think they will but that is only a guess since I am not ITK.

Finally, it does seem slightly odd and unfair to not mention in the media that the whole affair was started by Tevez. There is a very fine line between self defence and retaliation. Some of Barton's reaction may be explained by the former which is potentially excusable. Of course, nothing excuses the subsequent attacks on the other City players.

For me, the key consideration is how many games we may end up playing with 10 men next season! Cisse has redeemed himself in my eyes and appears to be a wiser man already. Barton has to demonstrate the same before the manager and owners, and of course the fans, give him the degree of trust he once enjoyed.
