    Well done lads.

    Hull City A.F.C.
Hull City Reserves thrashed Rotherham United 4-0 this afternoon to seal the Final Third Development League East Division title.

Goals came from Paul McElroy, Matthew Fletcher, Danny Chambers and Calaum Jahraldo-Martin.

Congratulations to all of the lads involved throughout the season, and to coach Stephen Clemence.

Yes, but what does it actually mean. The standard is crap and so is the league. Better if we were in the Prem reserve league.

It's a bit crap, but it's nice to win it anyway, at least it shows our lads take it seriously.

It says it's the final one, what's replacing it?

But the lads can only win the league they play in.

    “Final third.”

To score a goal the ball has to be in the final third of the field.

You have to score goals to win games hence why it’s called the final third league.

Over the top literal I know, but if it’s primarily a kids’ league I suppose they need spoon feeding nowadays.

It doesn't matter if it's a **** League or if we should be in a higher League. The lads have gone out each match and have done what was needed to win it.

FFS!! It's a City team. Give 'em some credit.

Great, the success will also give the younger players a psychological boost and leave everyone at the club feeling proud.
It adds to the superb atmosphere that has been around the club all season.

Think about it if your lad was in a school team that won the league or a cup how would you feel, you wouldn't complain about the standard. Stop wining and give the lads the credit they deserve.

It's not first time some of the lads concerned have tasted success in recent years. People shouldn't kid themselves the PL reserve league is the be all and end all in terms of footballing standards at U21 level. The only real difference comes down to facilities. Some of these lads have taken on, matched, and beaten some of the best academy sides around home and abroad. It's a shame some people would rather mock the the achievement of retaining the league title than celebrate the fact. Well done lads.

Winning's a good habit to acquire; this is excellent and deserves our congratulations to team and coach.

Im not having a pop. I cant argue with any of the points that have been made, no argument, success breeds success. What I am getting at is quite simple. We are a Premier club and we are looking to stay in this division for the foreseeable future. Allam is spending a lot of money on this new training ground for the lads of this age. We should be banging on the Prems door saying that we need to get our under 21s in their leagues. How can you expect any of the lads to step up when they are playing in a league which virtually contains clubs from the lowest league in the FL. The gap is so great. Tell me a player that has made the first team and stayed there over the last few years. I think that proves a point dont you. Its not the players fault it is the systems fault. When a club has come as far as we have in such a short time there is nothing in place to allow a step up in class for the young lads playing at the club. I cant see how anyone can disagree with this.

I don't disagree with what you're saying, but by the same token many of kids at tier 1 academy's are frankly not good enough to get in City's reserve team imo. There often just blessed with being geographically located close to the big clubs. As a club you have to earn the right to play at the top table. How are we ever going to unearth talent playing at lower league clubs or lower tier academies if their going to branded by many as not good enough. It does to a degree make my blood boil when I hear crap spouted like "oh well they've been brought up/coached the right way". The likes of Stewart, King, Evans, Manucho to some extent pour cold water on this widely taken view. A gap in class at first team level perhaps, but no more than any other club. A gap I class between tier 1 academies and the rest? Not from what I've seen. I don't what the answer is, but it is a real shame this years Development squad wasn't given a wildcard entry the U21 PL, I think they would have really surprised many involved in the game at that level. So on that basis investment/access to facilities should be a high priority in order to bring some of our local talent through.

If that is referring to me then I suggest you read my post above. Im not mocking anyone, just pointing out that the standard our players are playing in is piss poor. Fact, when was the last one who got into the first team and became a fixture?

No my contribution wasn't directed at you, and I do agree with much of what you say. Just wanted to air my thoughts on the subject in general. Still haven't quite figured out these forum sites flow when chipping in, so can see how my comments could be misconstrued.
